I have just received a new phone from ID mobile, (to take advantage of the special offers from Samsung) i had to start a new contract as i am currently with them and my old contract doesnt end until April
I have just put my old sim into the new phone and it works fine
Is there any way i can keep my old number as their online chat has just informed me that when the old contract runs out i will lose my number as it can only be transferred from or to a different company
does anyone have any ideas on how i could keep it
Thanks

You port the April contract number it to a temporary payg type sim with another provider. ***
Then you port it back onto the new contract SIM.

*** Doing that before late May / April -ish could trigger them to charge the 'rest of contract' fees for early termination.

Could you have done this as an early upgrade?

The usual way to do this would be to upgrade your existing contract (paying off any outstanding phone finance) and just continue with your current SIM, any reason why you didn't do this?

Request a pac from your old sim then give it to your temporary provider. The day after you port you can request a pac from your temporary sim and give it to your new contract. There are some free sims available but some will insist you top up for identiry verification purposes before they will issue a pac.

If the contract runs until April and the upgrade date is 21 Feb isn't that an early upgrade?  The problem is that it wasn't early enough for the op.

Telling you how? Was that the response to texting pac to 65075 or actually speaking to someone?
