However, DWP's yearly increase numbers fluctuate for the first 6 years between £4.30 and £4.32, whereas I would expect £4.31 for each year.

    Each year added £129.20 / 30 so £4.3066666, multiple years would add £129.20 / 30 x X which accounts for that variation.

Post 2016 years are £168.60 / 35 so £4.81714, again accounting for a variable increase.

My calculation is a COPE of £19.57

With a forecast amount of £104.05 in the 19/20 tax year their starting amount at April 2016 was £96.06.  24 years basic old pension was £95.44 so 62p S2P.  New calculation £106.73 - £19.57 = £87.16.

Add the 2 going forward years = £113.68

    Add the remaining 2 post 2016 years = £123.32

    Add 6 pre 2016 years taking pre 2016 to 30 = £149.16 (new calc = £142.58)

Add 7th pre 2016 year up to 31 = £149.16 old and £147.40 new so no increase

    Add 8th pre 2016 year = £152.22 (new) adding £3.06

    Add 9th pre 2016 year = £157.04 adding £4.82

    Add 10th pre 2016 year = £161.85 adding £4.81

So the extra 4 pre 2016 years will add £12.69, effectively £3.17 each (at 2019-20 values)

All 14 add £57.80, equivalent to £4.13 each

Today that £104.05 is worth £125.78 and with the 14 additional years would be £195.67, £8.18 short of the full pension.

    Thanks Molerat.

I might have got there in the end as my spreadsheet gives the same numbers (thankfully) with that COPE but think I lost confidence in it and was going round in circles, lol.

This is another of those more unusual cases where things flipflop between old and new rules for the SA in 2016.
