For the sake of a different cable that you can pick up for a couple of quid, is it worth the hassle of returning them?
Or am I missing something here?

It's not the actual cable (which I wish it was) that is different, it's a completely different model. The Box which is shown in the pic is different to the ones I received.

What was described in the pic was -

AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging Case (USB-C)

    What I received was -

AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging Case (Lightning)

The Airpods cases look exactly the same so I was going with the pic.
The description makes no mention of type of connection.
As said it was taken of packaging. Which was not checked to see if correct packaging.

S75 would throw it out on that basis.

But, they're both 2nd gen AirPods, so both exactly the same except for the port in the case, one of which is lightning, the other USB C?

So, in essence, all you do need is a different cable?

Or, use Magsafe charging, which makes the port redundant anyway.

Personally, if it was going to be a dealbreaker for me, I'd have questioned what the port was on the case before ordering, just to be 100% sure.

I really can't see what the problem is with simply using a lightning cable, though?

I have said this on the above comment. The newer Airpods Pro version is 2023 with USB C Cable which is in the pic listed. The one I got is a 2022 version with Lightning Cable.

Here's the thing: The new, USB-C version of the AirPods Pro 2 are very similar to the earlier Lightning model, but they are not identical.

First, the new buds and charging case add increased dust-resistance (IP54 rating instead of IPX4).

Second, in a pinch you can use your iPhone 15 to charge the USB-C AirPods with the included USB-C cable. And last and most interestingly, Apple has added support for 20-bit/48 kHz Lossless Audio with a "massive reduction of latency" for Apple's upcoming Vision Pro headset (note that Apple Lossless Audio actually goes up to 24-bit/192 kHz). As part of that support, Apple has announced it's developed a "groundbreaking wireless audio protocol," but Some bloggers and YouTubers have noted that the AirPods Pro 2 feature a new "acoustic architecture."

I don't know if this turning into a Tech review or consumer advice :D

Those T&Cs are exceptionally disadvantageous to the buyer, notably that you're signing away consumer rights.

Apart from Ebay and the like I don't know of any auction house that allows consumer rights and doesn't have similar t's & c's. That said they don't override the law, so they can say what they like and you still may have consumer rights. Given that fewer auctions bother with any viewing times at all then those rights are enhanced considerably.
I used to have an auction house and Trading Standards take a keen interest in ensuring that consumer rights are adhered to. It's often easy pickings for them if they get a complaint.
