value of internet router

I used to be with virgin and changed to a different internet provider about a year ago. I assumed virgin would want their router back so i kept it. I want to get rid of it  now to create space.

If i advertise it on ebay , would anyone buy it ?

Are their any security concerns in terms of doing this ?

Only one way to find out, and that’s to check the eBay sold listings.

When it comes to fibre broadband, I believe Virgin Media have some kind of link between your account and your router. Anyone who bought it would have trouble setting it up, likely needing an engineer visit.

(The last time I had a VM engineer over, he installed a new router and then needed to configure it against my account)

Rather than just assume, have you actually asked virgin if they want it ? If they do, then you can ask for a return kit to send it back.

My experience has been that Virgin require their router returned and threatened punitive charges if not returned.

Did the OP have any correspondence from Virgin, or check the final account for charges applied.

I stopped using virgin over a year ago now so i would presume they have closed my account , i have had no recent correspondence from them

No use looking at what’s for sale. They need to see what’s actually sold, as per my previous post.

A VM router is no use to anyone unless they have a VM account.

    Kind Regards,

I closed my VM account last year and they did require their equipment to be returned (router and V6 TV box), they sent me the packaging and I had to take it to a Yodel drop off point. However, when closing the account they did say that the "may" ask for the kit to be returned, so I guess in some circumstances they won't want it, and if the OP only had a router they may decide that it wasn't worth the cost of getting it back. Which may suggest that it's going to have very little second hand value.

Post it on Freecycle or similar and see if anyone wants to take it off your hands?
