If you are a member of a couple, make sure you both get cancellation letters.

Sorry if this sounds really stupid. I've received a migration letter, I have until the 15th of August to migrate. My son is 18, will be 19 in July, he's another year of school left. Do I ring them now and ask them to cancel the migration notice, or do I wait until he's turned 19 and then ring them.

I could be wrong, but as the policy only applies to 19 year olds, you could claim UC now, so it will only apply when your son turns 19, so will have to wait till then with that policy.
EDIT A person could try to argue a that the policy should also apply to 18 year olds that turn 19 before September, but in your case I don't see the point when you can wait till July.

    Let's Be Careful Out There

Thank you. He turns 19 before my migration deadline date, I'll call them the day after his birthday and hopefully get it cancelled or deferred.

Do remember that tax credits are ending on 05/04/25, so even getting deferred will not help you stay on tax credits past that date.

if in education when 19, call up on his birthday.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
