Lebara MSE deal raised payments - explained
Due to many similar subjects let me put few words in here:
Lebara is brilliant if you follow unofficial rule: never ever
change payment method under your promotional term! As you signed and
done 1st payment, stick to it and do not touch, otherwise they will:
a) charge you normal rate next month without telling you
b)
if no funds on the renewal day, you get message regarding payment problem and you deal won't be
re-newed, then you add different payment method but normal rate as this
is day(s) after.
In case of "a" just chat to
them, they will refund the difference, you would need to do it every
month. Or at later point for few months back. I found no problem with
it. Refund process takes about 3-4weeks in average, but it's reliable process.
In case of "b" it's 50/50 so then best way
is to switch away for a day and come back again to treat yourself fair
if their system cannot handle it.
System is not brilliant, but if you stick to above then it will be all good. Bear in mind this is "cheap" provider, so above should be understandable. "Cheap" but very very good if you follow above rule.
They have good internet speed, good chat experience, so overall is good.

Hi Asd,
I changed from a debit card to a credit card with another provider and continue to receive the same MSE promo without issue. Which payment methods did you change from/to?
Best wishes.1 -
ASD is correct. Lebara told.me a payment had failed and I should try another method. They said because the payment had failed I no longer qualified for the promotional rate.
When I checked the payment had gone through and had not failed. Lebara eventually accepted this but told me they couldn't restore the promotion.

I'm on the 0.99p for 6 months offer. Non-offer price is £4.40. They've charged me £4.40 every single month so far and I have to get on live chat each time for a refund. Once the 6 months is up I'm off. They're a slippery bunch.
(oh, I haven't changed payment method at all).0 -
I do realise there will be some who have a bad experience, but to balance this a little.I have two Lebara sims, each using a MSE "deal". Payments were always exact for the offers. e.g. 99p for 4 months then £4.95/month (unlimited s.m.s. and minutes + 5Gb data). At the start of one I accidentally toggled on "Auto top up" (pre newer designed account page) instead of "Auto renew" and was immediately charged £5 to my debit card.I phoned C.S., explained, and was immediately refunded the £5.1

I can better that - we are on our third sim - no issues here!

Is anyone able to explain how Lebara work out the billing/auto-renew/package refresh cycle? My plan renews towards the end of the month, but the date varies. I also tend to get conflicting messages about when the allowances refresh (email says one thing, text says another). It's not a big deal, but I can't set up my phone to accurately refresh my data count.

This happened to me, i signed up with a debit card and the first 7 months are supposed to be £1/month. However at the start of my plan i switched my payment method from debit card to paypal and when i got my first auto renewal it went through at the full price of £7.90/month. I contacted Lebara and they said the promo had not been applied because i switched payment method from debit card to paypal. They said they would refund me and request that the promo price be applied to the remaining 6 months. Its been a week and i have not seen the £6.90 refund as of yet. I wondered if i switched my payment method back to the orignal debit card i signed up with if the promo will automatically be applied again? Or i could leave it as paypal as i believe i can raise a case through paypal if i do not get the promo price i was promised. What you guys reckon, stick with paypal or try switching back to the original debit card?0
