Perfect cup of tea

American scientist recommends adding a pinch of salt to tea...

US Embassy responds with this -

Don't know what is worse, salt or microwaving the water....

I think the microwave bit comes from American homes not having electric kettles as a rule.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

They also make lousy coffee, beer, and cheese.

Well, it made me giggle. I'm pretty certain the American embassy in London has a kettle and are well aware that microwaving water is something we mock Americans for. It's dangerous if nothing else, superheating!

I'll take tea banter with the US over the tea based drama of 250 years ago, at least.

Lets not be snooty about others less fortunate, if you where drawing water from that postcode you would be looking at ways to improve a cuppa.

If they made it properly they wouldn't need to add salt.

My worst ever cuppa was in Delhi of all places. Tea bags of sweepings, Liptons.
And while you're mocking, who here uses a teapot?

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Beer is more a matter of extremes... vast quantities of terrible mass market garbage but some really excellent small brewery stuff.

Cheese is more complex, given that a lot of what they produce can't even legally be called cheese in some countries. Have been told they do also have small scale producers that are really good, ones I've tried are more middle of the road but on a relative basis amazing.
