alexisvonschneck won the 'auction' for £500 'free' cash just because other people stopped bidding (not because the auction went too high as there was no final price).

Total bids on the auction cost all bidders over £14k, a nice little earner for the site...

TeleBid is a comlete scam of a website. I am gobsmacked that people are actually using this site.

    An example:
    http://www.telebid.com/auction/nintendo-wii-console-wii-sports/73764.html

I have been watching that wii console since 10am this morning.

At the time of me posting this it is on £108 + £10 P&P

    Now lets do the maths:
    - A new Wii costs £180
    - there have been 1550 bids - each costing 50p
    - thats a massive £818 for Telebid to pocket

It's been counting down from 10 seconds for the past few hours too.

And who can prove that any of these 'keen bidders' aren't actually Telebid workers or plants? - I just don't believe anyone can be so stupid as to bid under these circumstances. Some of these 'bidders' have placed about 100 bids now ...

Edit - Update - the auction has ended and the winner paid a grand total of £211 for a £180 Wii - wow what a great saving!

Well I registered today, bought 20 bids and I won a Samsung 225BW 22" LCD monitor and all I had to pay is £9.80.

ZEEZ ! it must be bad if they are sending gimps & stooges over her to try & convince us!

    We're a bit more savvy than that:rolleyes:

Just seen an advert for Telebid and thought I would pay it a visit since I am an experienced ebay seller.

Was stunned at the first auction I viewed.

A Panasonic widescreen TV with a current bid price of £1741.95 this could be purchased from any reputable online retailer for around £1100.

I can see why someone might invest a couple of quid trying to bid on something that would made less than its market value but why on earth would anyone still be bidding on this.

    http://www.telebid.com/auction/panasonic-viera-42-full-hd-ready-plasma-/53007.html

    Alex

The reason they keep bidding is this was a fixed price auction, no matter what the end price was the winning bidder would only pay £98 fixed Plus P&P @ £49.80 so they get the tv for £147.80 plus the cost of there bids. Great if you only make a couple of bids.

So thanks for the link , check it out this idiot (Thosijojo) placed 5242 bids costing him and extra £2621 so he had to pay £2768.80 for the tv what a D*ck.

The final price was £2,143.89 that makes 30627 bids on it so telebid made £15461.30 for this tv which retails for £1,199.99 so even if they do pay the RRP they made £14261.31 profit. I`d rather send £2,000 on the lottery as he still could of ending up losing. I wonder what the guy who just mist out spent?

I think I`m in the wrong business. Anyone want to get together to make a similar site? lol.
  • I totally agree with sharp910sh in that the chance of winning is so low. This does not, in my opinion make it an attractive gamble. And that is all this site is - a glorified gambling site.

In response to eifzzz's post, saying he had successfully "purchased" eight items, including four PS3's does this mean that you have won all the items that you have bid on as there is no mention of this? If so, how!? You seem to be prepared to invest a large amount of bids into items, what about when you do this and still dont win!?

Personally, I really cant see why people would be prepared to throw away not inconsiderable amounts of money in "bidding" for an item (I use the term loosely as in my opinion this isn't bidding, its really just gambling to win a prize) when they have no real concept of what their odds of winning actually are. As sharp910sh said - I would rather play poker. At least if you are good at poker you know what your odds of winning are (most of the time) - I'd certainly personally rather stick £100 into my online poker account and know I have a decent chance of turning that into a few hundred more than gamble at telebid for the chance to win electrical items which in turn i'd have to sell on eBay and get doubly screwed over with eBay and PayPal fees - but then i'll probably end up wasting half my life in front of my monitor playing online poker as I do now :D

I agree, this guy who won eight items, how much has he spent on items he didn`t win?. I used to play fruit machines and many a time I came home to say I won the jackpot again £100, £60 & £50 at a time. But when I add up all times I had lost it was a lot more. This is the same thing, yes you can get items cheap if your lucky but more often you will lose just like the fruit machine. This site is a gambling site and not an auction site.

even people who win sometime end up paying more than the items worth check out this link this guy paid more than twice as much for a tv than it was worth in bids alone. http://www.telebid.com/auction/panasonic-viera-42-full-hd-ready-plasma-/53007.html
