Missed flight due to cruise terminal problems

I made the request for a transfer in writing but they appeared to have mislaid it so I did not know it had not been booked and I relied on the fact that they knew what they were doing and booked the transfer and disembarking time accordingly.  Until I found out the night before disembarking that they could not find my written request.  I have written to MSC and awaiting a proper reply as in their initial reply, it was obvious they had not read my email properly.  They also appeared to have no idea how the port operates there either.

That's not their issue. As a seasoned traveller have you never encountered chaotic terminals or ponderously slow border checkpoints manned by humourless immigration/security officials. .

Was the flight and cruise booked together as a package, or seperate?

You did not answer what was the transfer from the ship for?

You say from ship to port-  is that the terminal? 

Or was it ship to airport?

Does that not entail going theough the terminal with the same delays?

To answer your questions.  Firstly, as a seasoned traveler I have never encountered the chaos at a port terminal, or anywhere else, as things were at this port.  However, now knowing that three ships came in at the same time, should give you an idea.... thousands.  The cruise and flight were separate.  The transfer request via MSC was from ship to Airport.  Yes, probably would have encountered same difficulties but possibly a different type of queue at the port terminal, maybe getting through quicker, I really do not know as I had no chance to find out.
