Oaknorth Savings A/Cs

For us it's not possible to vote with our "digital" feet, it's a fixed term account until June! We'd definitely close it right now if Oaknorth paid the interest to date & with no penalty charge.xylophone said:which I don't want and didn't ask forOakNorth is a business.
It suits itself in what it does.
It simply has to ensure that its actions/corporate decisions don't annoy too many customers, which clearly would be corporate suicide!
For the rest....they just vote with their "digital" feet.....over to you....?
Different emails is an irritation peculiar to Oaknorth, so far anyway, (we have joint accounts with 5 different providers, all shared email addresses), but demanding the answers to EIGHT 'security' questions, the last 2 of which weren't even security questions, as the ONLY means of complying with their new T&Cs isn't going to happen.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
Is it possible that you got the answer to one of the security questions incorrect - maybe just miscounted the position of a letter? In those cases they may ask another 1-2 security questions. The first 3 are just low level data questions to try to find the account; the remaining relate to verifying that you are who you say you are and give them access to view your account and answer your questions.
It is good practice and advantageous to have a second email address with access to an account. If one gets compromised then you may be able to use the second to reset the security on the account.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!1 -
No, I'm positive all answers were correct.IvanOpinion said:Is it possible that you got the answer to one of the security questions incorrect - maybe just miscounted the position of a letter? Once he got past the few personal ones (name, address, DoB) he just wanted 1st & 3rd (didn't even vary from 1st & 3rd) from all 3 of what I expected to be a random couple of the 3 security questions set up, but no matter, I just answered. Security is what it is.
I drew the line at my bank info, that was an unnecessary step too far. It had moved into 'overkill' for an email address change they insisted on!Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
Oaknorth have stepped up the nagging. Initally it was just one unamed 'dear customer' type email, now two personally addressed emails to each naughty account owner. We're still ignoring.1

Ours is with the Ombudsman now. Oaknorth didn't explain why or when 2 digits from our sort code + 2 from our bank a/c number had became part of the 'security questions'. Plus some drivel "for joint a/c applications it's made quite clear no shared email addresses, in accordance with the new Jan 2024 T&Cs". Maybe so, but our a/c was opened in June 2023!beefturnmail said:Oaknorth have stepped up the nagging. I'm happy to withdraw the funds & close a/c, without penalty, but it doesn't mature until June.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.1
