I don't disagree with the advice above but it is possible that the manufacturer has made an error, albeit a very small possibility.I'd suggest contacting Trading Standards and ask for their help and advice.As it's an Ebay purchase you could also get in touch with Ebay. It may be out of their natural refund time but you should expect a fridge/freezer sold as new to last longer than 6 months.I'd exhaust all those routes before contemplating small claims. Small claims can be a long drawn out process with no guarantees of getting any money back..0

There is a massive issue around certain goods being sold by non official retailers where that makes the item 'second hand' and therefore often outside the remit of the manufacturer. During lockdown this was a massive issue with those blow up hot tubs, people were buying and selling at inflated prices (pun intended) where the manufacturers would only repair or replace if the original warranty had been registered with them by the original buyer. Some sellers would send the receipt and if the new buyer was in time the warranty could still be claimed- but most lost out.
A lot would depend here on whether the business the OP bought from was an authorised seller of that brand or not. How did you pay for the item?
If it was via PayPal could you try to claim a refund from the seller via PayPal instead? I think they have 6 months returns?
Or credit card chargeback?
Bear in mind I haven't used PayPal for years so could have changed!0 -

Aren't there 2 separate issues here?1) Beko - as the manufacturer - apparently offer a warranty (which is above and beyond any legal obligations). For this to be valid, Beko (understandably) require that the item has been sold by an authorised dealer. The eBay seller incorrectly claimed that this warranty was in place, but it isn't, and so the item is Not As Described and the buyer would not have bought the item at that price had they known.2) The retailer (a business, selling on eBay) has obligations under consumer rights law. The item has developed a fault, within a short timescale, and so they are responsible for repairing/replacing/refunding it.It's difficult to see how both of these can be resolved, other than by a full refund to the buyer (or, perhaps, a repair plus a partial refund, if acceptable to the buyer).It will be interesting to see what the retailer's response is.Philip2
