Yes 100% internal and nothing came in from outside. There is no good reason at all for this. I completely get checks banks have to do when that happens but when it’s money I already had with them that came from my job then it seems very wrong.AmityNeon said:To clarify, all transfers were internal? There was no incoming money from external accounts? Were there any recent deposits prior to opening these new savings accounts that could in any way be interpreted as unusual, irregular or suspicious?
I fully intend once this is wrapped up find a new bank and take my business away from Santander.0 -
100% internal. No external funds whatsoever.AmityNeon said:To clarify, all transfers were internal? There was no incoming money from external accounts? I fully intend to join a new bank after this and pull all my business away from Santander. I’ve never experienced anything like this.0 -
Are any of these 'Edge' accounts by any chance?0

Is it a normal everyday account or like above one of the reward accounts which I believe have limit of 1 personal / 1 joint?
Anyways Santander were fined for AML breach and known to be very sensitive these days, many posts here (incl. my own) about them being very trigger friendly locking accounts for week(s) whilst they review your account activityIn the end I had to raise a complaint and got access again (+compensation) within 2 days, you may want to try the same.

Thanks, this is really helpful. I will try that route also now. Appreciate that.Futuristic said:Is it a normal everyday account or like above one of the reward accounts which I believe have limit of 1 personal / 1 joint?

So frustrating. I have got hold of my complaint reference now but still no progress. I raised my formal complaint over a week ago and absolutely nothing has changed.Futuristic said:Is it a normal everyday account or like above one of the reward accounts which I believe have limit of 1 personal / 1 joint?

If, as you say, all the money paid into your account is as clean as driven snow, and you can prove that, everything should be sorted out, probably within a few weeks. I suggest that you concentrate on the practical problems. People here say that you can open a Starling bank account in a matter of minutes. You could open one and arrange for you salary to be paid into it. Hopefully, the first payment will be paid in at the end of the month. If you need money to survive until then, tell Santander. They should be able to arrange for you to withdraw some cash at a branch. Do not worry about the mortgage. One delayed payment due to no fault of your own is not likely to be life changing.

Hi OP ... (bulldog80) you have my sympathies ...
I have opened several Everyday Current Accounts consecutively in the past and if I recall correctly there was a standard question/pulldown for the purpose of each account, including to have a separate 'pot' for accounting purposes.
Santander allows a customer to have several accounts for just the purpose you describe, albeit current accounts, but unless it is specifically prohibited then several savings accounts. I have several.
May I be pedantic, were the 'internal' transfers all made from your personal accounts (as opposed to other people's accounts with Santander) ?
