Can i remove a default from my credit file if it wasn't my fault.
What happened was when I moved into a new property there was only £50 outstanding on a water bill which I thought I paid in my old property.
Months down the line the people who bought my house messaged me saying there was a letter that came to the old address for me. Then I discovered it was a overdue bill that needing paying. I was sure when I contacted Welsh water that I was moving I thought all payments was paid, because in the old property there was a water meter which I knew I forwarded the meter readings, like I did for gas and electric.
So is there anyway I can get this removed?

In a word, no.
If you didn't pay on time the default is a valid record of what happened.0 -

A default can be registered when you fail to pay certain bills within the specified timeframe.
Utility companies don`t have to follow the consumer credit act guidelines, so they pretty much have carte blanche to do as they wish.
Once its registered it means the relationship between you has ended, and then allows the creditor to take legal action or debt collection, as they see fit.
It`s not something that can normally be removed as certain legal processes can only be instigated once a default is registered.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. You could write to them, explain the circumstances, point out that it was a one off, at a time of high stress - and they just may remove it, butI wouldn’t hold my breath. On the flip side though - if you don’t ask, they definitely won’t!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Yes welsh water can remove the default at any time , plus if your not happy with the way the default has been added to your credit file , you can add a NOC (Notice Of Correction ) attached to the default while the credit ref agencies ask Welsh Water for more information it normally takes up to 28 days to complete .0

With Welsh Water they don't follow their own data protection laws or limitation acts !! We all have rules to follow and Welsh Water need to learn how to follow theres !! once you stop payments too them over time , they will keep sending you letters for payment . Once thats exhausted they will threaten you with court proceedings . They will send out to you so that you acknowledge the claim, a ‘Acknowledgement of Service’ back to the Court, the 14-day deadline for providing a full response to the claim is increased to 28 days. When you do this they can chase you for the money regardless of time . If they don't follow procedure and send you this form they cannot follow through with court proceedings , and give you a CCJ or a default .0
