Cost for electric blanket and convection heater
Got a silentnight electric blanket with three settings and no timer. How much does it cost ? I put it on setting 3 to begin with then setting 1 all night and usually forget to turn off in the morning so can be on for hours when I'm not there.
Also, got a Fine Elements convection heater with rated power- 1800/2000W. I have that on in my lounge. How much to run this?

And plug the blanket in to a timer so that it turns off close to your rolling out of bed time.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I know because I've used a TAPO P1101 -
OP could test the blanket to see if it would work with a plug in timer.
Switch blanket on at desired setting with it plugged in and wall switch on.
Switch off wall switch or pull out plug.
Switch back on at wall or put plug back in
Check that blanket powers up again.
If it does then a plug in timer should work.
If it doesn't power up then a timer won't work.

My mother-in-law lives in a very poorly insulated stone cottage and her life has been transformed by the use of heated blanket throws. Her cottage has always been challenging to heat, but the heated throws cost a fraction of the cost to run when compared to turning up her storage heaters. She now has several of them, so guests get handed one and told where to plug it in, rather than stoke up the fire. I have to say I was a bit cynical about their effectiveness, but once having got over the slightly daft feeling of sitting in a chair wearing a large blanket I'm convinced they are a really good option for some. The nice thing about them is that they heat what needs to be heated, the person, rather than heat the whole room.1
