Breakdown Cover - Autoaid renewal cost now includes a charge for partner cover!

Received my renewal for 2nd May.  As per others here they've added a £10 Spouse supplement and stuck the spurious £21.90 on the account for vehicles over 15 years old (even thought the car isn't).

As Harvey did above I used the MSE link and my wife kindly assumed responsibility for any future breakdowns rather than myself.  Paid by card for £57.

It does say you can opt out of the £21.90 fee if it doesn't apply but unsure why they put it on the form in the first place.

I, too, find their call centre staff less than accommodating and have done for the past few years.  I joined them in 1984 and it was different then - but times move on I guess.

I have been with Autoaid for a number of years and yes the £10 charge for your spouse is new this year. Interestingly if you go directly to their site there is a charge for spouse, but if you go via the MSE link there isn't. No doubt they catch you with that charge when you renew.  It's very annoying when they start introducing a charge for something that was previously included.

Also the charge for vehichle over 16 years old has gone up, I think this used be either £10 or £15 extra and and don't forget there is also a charge of £25 per callout for vehicles over 10 years old which they introduced in March 2023

I do often check to see if there's an alternative to Autoaid but with two cars and me an my Mrs being covered in both I don't seem to be able to find better.

I want homestart and national recovery (even though I haven't used either in donkeys years.) Both cars are 2011 so attract Autoaid's surcharges.
