best broadband provider for wi fi coverage?

hi all
live in a small house that has solid walls so wi fi signal is patchy at best.
currently with sky and having to use 2 of their boosters to get wi fi coverage from front of house to rear.
just wondering if any of the other suppliers provide boosters foc?
im looking to leave sky due to costs so looking for advice on who if anyone is better.

To get the best wifi coverage you need a mesh network rather than boosters/repeaters.  Potentially you could get this equipment free of charge as part of an expensive broadband contract but my suggestion would be to buy the kit yourself.  This leave you free to go with your first choice of broadband package.
  • Agree that a mesh system is the way to go.

I know someone who was with Sky and used a mesh then moved to BT and their router is so much better that they don't need the mesh now.

It is best to supply your own Wi-Fi or other networking solutions to provide internet throughout your property and just rely on the ISP to supply internet to your property.  Your networking solution can be used with any ISP and will not be tied to any particular one.  Then you can pick any ISP you wish to for any reason.

    hi all thanks for feedback.
so am i right in thinking i could just buy a mesh system, plug it into my sky router and this would give me a better wi fi coverage than the sky boosters?
and after searching i found this mesh system...https://www.mymemory.co.uk/strong-wi-fi-atria-meshkit-1200-2-pack.html
    would it be good enough?
  • In theory yes that should help a lot.  No idea if the system you linked is any good, seems very cheap but maybe it does the job?

I bought that kit from that supplier (although via their eBay store) last month. It works fine and my kids love me more than ever now they've got reliable wifi in their bedrooms :D

ok...ordered the mesh system, will see how it works. im assuming i can change the name of the wifi to match the router so i dont have to keep jumping between the different signals?
  • You can switch the wifi on the router off so that you only ever connect to the mesh.

Yes, you can change the access point name and password.
I've kept mine separate for now, so I can see the relative signal strengths of the mesh vs the router at various places in my house and garden.

Turn off the WiFi on the Sky router and change the ID & password on the mesh system to match, there should be no reason to have change any of the devices then.
