Heat pump quote

Hi
I've just got an installers quote for installing an ASHP (well two quotes actually, one for a R290 and one for a R32) and in the items is listed on each:
Boiler Upgrade Application £650.00 No VAT
Is this usual that a firm charges for the BUS grant application? Seems a bit steep!

I think it is unusual, and how long do they think it is going to take if they are charging you £650 for it? On the other hand, it really needs to be viewed in the context of the entire quote.Reed1

Anyway I'll be sticking with our oil boiler for as long as it lasts or until the Govt changes the grants for ASHPs in our favour. Or I'll wait for 'chip fat' fuels to be a good price!0 -

It's a lot of paperwork and it encompasses their MCS registration fees.
It's normal.
You will never rationalise every part of the quote, as somebody else suggested, just look at the overall price.
You will just upset them, they may be really cheap on other parts of the quote. It's just human nature to pick up on parts that seem excessive but we never look at other parts and think, that's reasonable, let's offer more money, we always pick on the part that we think its too much.
If it works for you then go for it, if not, don't do it.
They could just quote you £200 for the paperwork and add £450 elsewhere, what does it matter?
All that matters to you is the overall price.
More important than the price though, get it done properly if you have it done at all.

I think it very reasonable to ask if £650 is a good price for applying for a grant. If I'd said is £650 a good price for replacing a radiator you would have given the same reply I suppose?
So I'll leave the question thanks, and just know that I won't be going back to them.0
