B*gger - I wanted an account with good travel insurance and fully featured roadside recovery....had settled on the above at £13 per month.  I noticed the switch offer with 2 active direct debits required on the donor account and set those up early December....they started coming out late December.

I was a bit paranoid as the DDs said 'unknown' for frequency so I decided I'd wait until the DDs had come out twice for that to be populated, even though it didn't appear to be in the Ts and Cs.

Anyhow, turns out the offer finished 21st December - serves me right for being paranoid!

Is it still worthwhile switching, even if you don't get the 'bonus'?

Absolutely.......I think the top tier RAC cover and the worldwide travel cover for my wife and I is £300-£400 a year.

    Isn't it AA, not RAC?

  • Sorry RAC is what I have now, so existing road side and travel insurance is £300 - £400 vs the AA and whichever travel insurance provider through the Flex Account.

Also, it's obvious, but still worth clarifying that one can just open a Plus account, not necessarily switch to it.
  • Yup likely plan is to open the Plus account and switch the donor (Lloyds) account to First Direct.

I used to have the FlexPlus for the travel and breakdown insurance. As they want extra money if you are over 70, I have moved to the COOP Everyday Extra account which insures you until 80, for only a slighty higher monthly premium.

Doesn't the Virgin Club M do all that for a lower premium than even Nationwide FlexPlus at £12.50?

They use Green Flag who won’t get you and your vehicle home if they can’t fix it but to a local garage. I’d only go with AA or RAC for that reason.
