I have looked through many threads on here and I cannot find one mentioning the problem that I have encountered.
I have had my latest statement from EDF and it has charged me from Smart Meter Readings when I do not have a Smart Meter. I am concerned as to how they have found these readings and what I have been charged.
Has this happened to anyone else before??
I am on a Fixed Term Contract which finishes end Jul24 but I have never been sent a Smart Meter and as far as I am aware was not meant to have one either.
I have emailed a complaint to EDF asking for them to investigate why

What sort of meter do you have? Do the readings they use on the bills match your meter? And just to confirm - you are referring to the Meter and not the IHD?1

HI OP - you wouldn't really be "sent" a smart meter - someone would have come and fitted it - you haven't had a meter change in the past few years at all?
How do the readings on the bill that you have been sent compare with the actual readings that you supplied to EDF? Is the meter serial number shown on the bill correct with what is on your meter? And how were previous bills raised - against A (actual) C (customer) or E (estimated) readings?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

IHD is In Home Display. The smart meter itself doesn't look like anything high tech

Perhaps you could post details of the make and model of your meter.
It might be that you have an old SMETS1 type meter which they couldn't get readings from for years and it's now been updated remotely and is smart again.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

My house is only 7 years old and the meter outside gives digital readings. I do not know what type it is. I have just checked the readings are they are in line with that I have been charged from the supposed Smart Meter reading.0

I didn't realise it is classed as a Smart Meter. I thought you had to have one of those little smart meter devices in your home. I know my neighbours have them but I have always refused to have one. I feel like an idiot now. Oh well, I guess I have learned something new today.
Strange that for the first time in 7 years a Smart Meter Reading has shown on my EDF statement when it never has done before. And why do they request I submit my own meter readings every few months?
