Saving pics from phone........cloud?

Built up a hefty collection of photos on my phone I'd like to store and keep in one place.......I believe there's such thing as a 'cloud' available,  I'd appreciate any advice please

  • I’d not recommend storing in just one place. What are you going to do when the cloud service you use goes belly up?

Some Apple and Google cloud storage options have a limit to the amount you can store for free and that can be an issue if you save everything in the full file size.

Best thing to do is also save them to a computer hard drive and then put them on an external backup drive as well.

I have all my important documents backed up on 4 different hard drives, 2 on laptops and 2 external drives which back up what I need every time I connect them.

If it's not backed up in at least 5 places, it's not backed up!

For sure you can never have too many backups.  But the cloud is these days extremely reliable, a lot of large corporates do not have on-premise storage solutions, they are too costly to maintain compared to the cloud.  You may have to pay a subscription for the cloud, depending on your storage requirements, the benefit is that the pictures will be available across all your devices.

    Hope that helps.

    Kind Regards,

    Bill
  • Cloud options are available at differing price points if you want to use them.

I ony use Apple's free Cloud amount for saving messages and syncing calendar across devices so can't recommend one for photo storage.

Perhaps you should have told us what the phone is. :)
  • I have Amazon prime, and that has unlimited photo storage on line included, if you consider that the free next day delivery etc is worth it then I’m happy to recommend it.

There is also an Amazon app that automatically backs up the photos on your phone to the cloud whenever you are connected to WiFi.
