Fixing a gas leak? Insurance?

Hi,
Wasn't sure if this was energy or in home.
Gas leak has been detected and isolated, so no immediare emergency but now need to identify how best to get it fixed.
We have british gas homecare and minimal house insurance. The leak is on the intake pipe which looks like it's covered on British Gas and they booked appointment for Monday (the "earliest" appointment 🙄) but my worry is they may say its not covered, so should I be going through house insurance?

Have you actually double checked your house insurance to see whether it covers something like a repair to a gas pipe or appliance?
BG Homecare seems more likely to fix it.1 -
Thanks @Yorkie1 That's what I thought.
The house insurance appears to cover building work, but I would need to talk to them about specific of this as it doesnt mention details of what is covered.
Have booked a BG homecare appointment in the meantime so will see what they say on Monday but I was worried about wasting the call out - suppose it is what we pay for.Mortgage Free since January 2018!1 -
Homecare have always fixed issues for my Mum - hopefully they should do so for you too1

If so, it'll be the responsibility of the 'gas board' such as Cadent. If it's from the meter itself, it'll likely be up to your gas energy provider - BG, EDF or whoever. If it's within your house, it's your responsibility, but it looks as tho' you have BG cover? So, either way, it looks as tho' you are covered. :-)Your house insurance won't normally cover this, unless you added the feature under something like 'emergency home cover'.3 -
Thanks, this confirmed how I understood it was likely covered. Its after the meter according to Cadent who came out and isolated it. I'm glad we have the British Gas engineer booked now.ThisIsWeird said:jezebel said:Hi,

@jezebel did British Gas cover the fix to the leak? We are in the same situation and I’m freaking out…

Officially, it depends entirely where the leak is - before or after the gas meter?englishlady90 said:@jezebel did British Gas cover the fix to the leak? We are in the same situation and I’m freaking out…

Do you know where the leak is?

Sorry, very new to this! I have the same situation as the OP, cadence came and said it’s our pipework not the meter and not their side, so after the meter. We have homecare with British Gas.. I have a small child in the house.MeteredOut said:
