Interview offered when on holiday

I have been offered an interview for a position on the Wednesday of the week when I am on holiday. I have interviewed many years ago for a different position at this establishment. They tend to interview on one day. They ring the next or even later that afternoon to offer the job.

Presuming it’s an interview in person it does rather depend on where you are on holiday and whether you can/are willing to  get back for an interview,  or whether you want to ask them to rearrange with a chance that they may say no.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Ring them up and ask for a different day if possible, nice and polite with enthusiasm for the job.  Suggest the Friday before perhaps?  If they say no, be gracious and say you'll be happy to talk to them another time.

In which case how much do you want/need the job and do you have significant skills/experience that warrant them changing their plans ?

It doesn't warrant me cancelling my holiday.  I'm not sure I will have significant experience to warrant them changing there plans either
  • You could ask if they would consider a telephone/video interview if either was practical for both parties.

An employer I asked weren't prepared to change the date.
I travelled home from holiday for the interview (not from abroad but it was a fairly long journey).
If I'd got the job it would absolutely have been the right decision, but I didn't so it wasn't.
Another job I went for I found out later they were holding the position open for a week to allow someone else who was on holiday to interview for it.
    They got the job.
I would contact them and say you are keen, think the job is perfect etc. but unfortunately you are out of the country so would they be prepared to interview at another date.
Their response will tell you how keen they are.

It's for a role where you have to do an in-person presentation

In which case I'd call or email, explain you're out of the country and ask for a different date (just before your holiday ideally).
