Make of this what you will, but just an hour later I've sold one item already
So did you sell AFTER you uploaded 10 photos?  Interested to know.
  • yes 1 hour after I added the photos

    I shall expect a commission ;)

I spent about 20 minutes with 2 Ebay advertising reps. What I tend to do is let people speak so I can find the relevant bit of info for me and that seemed to be it. Most of my products only need 2 pics at the most but the ones that were selling the best were ones that needed and had more. It doesn't work for everything but it is a clear Ebay policy that more pics get more views.
I can even remember the days when Ebay charged extra for more than one picture.

I would say though whenever I search as a buyer I don’t see listings with 10 photos!

Me neither very often. With the mobile app and a half decent phone camera it's super easy to add pictures, so not really any excuses for not having them.

I remember it well, something like 10p per extra pic and when they first started out they charged a lot, around 30p  for a thumbnail pic in the search. I only had a web cam at the time, so used to upload a single free pic, no gallery mage, and I’m surprised I ever sold anything! When I got a proper digital camera I used photo bucket and added my pics for free that way , and after that I started using Turbo lister.

Now we have 20 pics for free and I use as many as I realistically can.

I had a tiny digital camera, it was very fiddly and there was no way of knowing what the picture was like until it was uploaded. The choices on digital cameras were either professional ones that were insanely expensive or a teeny tiny one that was about £20. A friend had imported a load of them with some remote control helicopters!

There was "gallery plus" I think that allowed so many pictures for £1 or so. Depending what you were selling it was one of the better upgrades. It's funny thinking of that in relation to people complaining about listing fees now.

  • still no FVF offers on the new account but I have at least managed to access the seller hub now, using my browser I just googled seller hub and it comes up with an ebay article about the new seller hub and a link to  "start using seller hub", if you click on that it changes it to the seller hub which I am used to. I did try that when I first opened the account but it told me I wasn't eligible until I'd sold an item...
would appreciate some feedback from other sellers who have opened new accounts, how long does it take to get FVF offers? how long does it take to get the payment holds removed? I recall back in 2020 last time I did this it was a certain number of feedbacks or a length of time whichever came first

I got FVF offers 2 weeks ago (roughly a month after opening new account) and this weekend also, selling a few items just like normal, only thing different is I don't get the money straight away, theres a hold placed on it and I can't figure out for how long or why.
I only started on ebay back on 2020 and I remember that there was a certain amount of feedbacks I had to reach before I got instant payments, but I can't remember how many it was? also I think thinks have changed now with "managed payments"
does anybody know how long I have to endure the payment holds, and what I could do to speed it up? In 2020 I started messaging buyers asking them to leave feedback which did work I think but I get those messages as a buyer and they annoy me so don't really want to have to do that if I don't need to
currently got 4 positive feedback, from 12 sales, 10 showing as delivered
