Many thanks for all your helpful replies, this may sound a little cheeky but I'm asking for a friend 😁 would I get the FVF's on both accounts (I think Ebay taking their % off the sale and the postage is a bit much so trying to take a bit back)
  • I'm hoping so, but it's not instant. I think you may have to buy and sell a few thing on the new ebay account and wait a few weeks until you will be eligible for the FVF offers.
I have just this weekend helped a friend start selling on their ebay (I used to sell things for them from time to time and give them the money, but the tax reporting has put an end to that) and their account is just the same as my new one, very basic, despite them having had the account for 10 years and has 1000odd feedback from buying. I set up managed payments for them, but still not eligible for any offers,  and I tried all the links

Shouldn't make any difference unless you're also using your eBay account for trading, in which case it is indeed simpler to keep personal and business separate.

if you have a Samsung phone that supports secure folder you can install one eBay app as normal and one eBay app in the secure folder and operate them as if they were on two separate phones ie they are completely independent of each other
  • my new ebay account is not doing very well, I listed 2 £5 items one of them normally sell 2-3 times and I relist during the space of a free listings weekend, the other one I would expect to sell within a week.
I chose those 2 items because they are low value and I would have put money on them selling quickly, but one has only 4 views, the other has no views!
I seem to recall a thread about promoted listings and if listings from certain accounts are visible to everyone, I would say theres some truth in it....

One thing I was told at an Ebay event is that you need a minimum of ten pictures per listing to get more views. If you've just got one or two you'll get overlooked, by the search algorithm, more often than not.

interesting. the items I have listed really only one photo is required for people to know what they are, but just for the sake of investigating I'm going to update the listing with 10 photos all from different angles to see if that makes a difference

I add  loads of photos even if they are virtually identical, anything that helps is a bonus!

I would say though whenever I search as a buyer I don’t see listings with 10 photos!
  • Make of this what you will, but just an hour later I've sold one item already
