No, if you have to do a credit check, you are applying for a normal account.Looking4silverlining said:
Oh Im not sure now.... It was a standard account, is that a basic one? It was the lowest I could see.RAS said:Did you apply for basic bank accounts? There is no credit check on them, but you get a debit card and can set up DDs.
The Co-op basic account is the Cashminder. Or try the Virgin Money M account. Santander's is just called a basic account. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1 -
i had a Santander basic account for a year, closed it last week, never used it.
didn't like it, it has 2 cards , a cash card and a debit card, non contactless.
the cash card is only for hole in the wall machines, and the non contactless debit card only works if you transfer money from your account to it before you go to the shops with it
what a carry on!!Christians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

Starling, yes I did. Ideally I need two to keep business and personal separate though. My partner had trouble with Starling, they didn't like the address so we will see.enthusiasticsaver said:

Ive just read the bottom of the refusal email from co op, they are actually suggesting a cash minder account. Why on earth didn't that show up on their website when I was choosing which account I wanted. I honestly thought I was chasing the simplest one. Ill try again.0
