Some companies I use state item is dispatched when they have parcelled it and passed it for collection by courier/RM.

When I check the tracking it states' we are expecting your parcel"  So, it has not yet been collected but is dispatched, ready to be collected when the courier/RM pick up next.

That may be the next day, depending on when the pick up is.

Whether or not Royal Mail operate on bank holidays, if the retailer offered actual next day service, and the OP paid for that, it's down to the retailer to find a courier who can achieve that.

We do it know what the retailer offered. Restrictions due to holidays etc  may have been stated.

However, the retailer has done all he needed to do, which is refund the extra paid for the service not received.

Unless we know who the retailer is, and the wording on their website, they probably didn't need to refund anything given the delivery happened on the next available day for the courier chosen.
