@dp1: I would sweat off the leeks on a v low heat in a pan with a bit of butter. Add onions if you have any. Then I'd add the carrots, potatoes and swede with a bit of garlic, if you have any, plus the lentils. Make up some veggie stock and add to pan, maybe with a squirt of tomato puree for extra flavour. Let it simmer for an hour of two then blend in a liquidiser for a smooth texture. You could then tip it back into the pan and warm through with a bit of grated cheese or cream to taste. Eat with french bread/crusty roll/cheese on toast. Is that the sort of recipe you mean?7
