It's minus 4° outside and I'm reluctant to get dressed.

The fields are white with frost, it looks pretty but I'm still not tempted to go out. Yesterday I had to de-ice my car and today will be the same. The drive to the hairdresser and back was really lovely, the sun was bright, no rain but freezing cold. I now feel better for it all.Today I'll start the ABs, take down my very tiny tree and bin the Christmas cards. I had tentatively planned to have breakfast out and then go shopping but I'll probably not do that now. I have a couple of 'thank you' emails to write which need attention. For now I'm enjoying being in bed with the electric blanket switched on. 😀11

Morning folks and thanks GERS. We must have it a bit warmer than you as there was no frost this morning. It still feels nippy though.
I have a pot of lentil and bacon soup on the go to accompany my lunches for the coming days. I have yet to do the veg for today's lunch so that will be my next job. I fished some sliced beef in gravy from the depths of the tall freezer and there is enough for 2 dinners so I will do double the veg and have a rinse and repeat dinner tomorrow.
I had a call from SIL yesterday with some nicer news this time. My DN has had her baby girl and all went well. It's such a shame what should be such a special time is tinged with the sadness of losing her dad (my DB) at the same time.
For a change there is a decent night's viewing for me on tv tonight. The Midwives, the Throw Down and Vera. I shall record all 3 in case I nod off! That's quite possible as I had yet another silly o'clock waking this morning. Grr.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our coughers, poorlies or getting better. As well as the sad and lonely. Take care all be safe xx

Don't blame you Gers; that's jolly cold!
I've only had one cup of tea so far and haven't done anything else yet. The gammon I cooked yesterday was very nice but huge! We've put 4 slices away to eat today, with some roast potatoes and veg, but the rest is in the fridge, awaiting developments! We are out for lunch tomorrow for DH's birthday and then out for a Plough Tuesday meal at Morris the following night so it might have to wait until Wednesday.
Our next door neighbour is very kindly coming round later to see if he can sort out the printer not connecting to the Wifi. We tried turning the router off and on again yesterday but that made no difference. I can't imagine what the problem is; probably something silly but straightforward with a bit of luck.
Other than that I plan to finish the ironing and maybe make some biscuits as a thank you for our neighbour.
Have a peaceful Sunday all.11 -

Morning! Don't blame you Gers, it's supposedly minus 1 here but I think there's something wrong with me, I'm not feeling cold at all whereas OH is freezing. Mind you, he did manage to break a few toes the day before yesterday, his foot slipped off the bottom stair and his toes went under. Not a lot is happening, I sit on the sofa all day and do not a lot, OH sits in front of his xbox all day.....But breathing is a lot easier now which is good, hopefully the tablets will shift the rest of it. House is gradually looking more and more like a tip being as I'm not keeping on top of it...It's going to need a thorough going over when I'm well. I did take what little decorations there were up down last night, the wall looks really bare now.Gers, yeah, take em! And more if you need them! TA, congratulaions on your new grandniece, one bright spot...WL, hope your neighbour fixes your printer, enjoy being peripatetic! hugns n stuff to the not well, but dont come too close, and take care to all...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10

Happy Sunday to all
Lovely baby news TA . Some good news for a change. Glad to hear that the poorly ones are starting to feel a bit better.
Looks like a slight frost on the grass here and the air feels cold but oddly ,I am quite warm . Made 4 veg meals last night and vaguely remember getting up in night . They are gone from the work top.so I must have put them in the freezer whilst half asleep!
Got a red cabbage and a couple of cooking apples so going to make spiced red cabbage later to use that up.will have some with a pork chop for dinner today. Also a bag of reduced tomatoes which I will make into soup later .
I wish I had known in my " spendy " days ,how its really true that looking after the pennies is right. I used to be careful but as my income increased larger and larger amounts of money meant less and less .But I didn't recognise the cause and effect of waste. I would think I would be OK if I had £10,000 but casually waste £10 .
Does anyone remember the programme " survivors" ,the original 1970s one . It concerned a post apocalyptic world following a disease that wiped out much of the world. I was watching it and an elderly neighbour said that if this happened the people who could grow food, make things and mend would be best placed as they were in the war. He was probably right!
Enough of my ramblings. Have a good day everyone . Hugs to those who are struggling .12 -
We used to watch the old Terry Nation production of the Survivors WW. It had us gripped. I found a clip on YouTube not long ago and these days it looks a bit corny! X"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9

Morning all
Very cold here this morning with a sharp wind I have a towel load in the wm and another to go in after they can go on the line for a good blow !
Dinner today is a lovely bit of pork, roast potatoes, parsnips, cauliflower and broccoli cheese, sprouts and carrots, I will ask mum to come up butI think she has invited my nephews over for Sunday lunch she has done this several times and got it all prepared and cooked and they don’t show up 😡 it’s so rude of them so I hope they do turn up today !
I sorted out the boot cupboard yesterday and we all got rid of several pairs, OH made a new shelf to go on top of the existing shoe rack so they all have a place now it’s nice and tidy - for now.
TA lovely news re the baby girl xxx
Have good days all and take care xx10 -
Hello all, it's 3 degrees here but at least it's dry today. The decs came down yesterday but have only made it as far a into boxes in the spare bedroom, they have to be put away in the cupboard at some point so I'll play tetris to get them back in. I have some sad looking apples in the fruit bowl that I'll stew and then make a sausage casserole for tea. I have some rolls in the freezer that I can defrost and then we can dip in the gravy, mmmm.
DD arrived safely back from NY and they've had a fabulous time, she will be up today to collect the hamsters and show us the photos that we haven't already seen. Thankfully when they went ice skating in Brooklyn she didn't break anything as she's a bit accident prone ! She fell up a step and broke one foot while damaging all the ligaments in the other while on holiday one year !!!
Well I'm off to make a start but another coffee first and get my lungs revved up, we're both still coughing for Wales. Everyone seems to have it and only I was masked up while in the surgery waiting room 😠
taff oh poor DH, hope his toes are not too painful. Look after yourself and don't worry about the state of the house, mine is exactly the same !
Gers I'd be under that duvet all day with such cold temperatures, brr.
TA congrats to your DN, hope Mum and baby are doing well. DB will be looking on proudly 🧡
Enjoy yourself if you're going out and gentle hugs all round today.
Take care stay, safe and warm.
nan xx
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x Hope the ABs start to kick in soon.
Lovely baby news @TravellingAbuela - hope all is well with mum and baby x
Take it easy @-taff did wince at your DH’s toe injury 😳
I am off to Sains shortly to get a small weekly shop. Wouldn’t normally go there but I need a new iron and have arranged a click and collect from the Argos counter there. ILs coming for a roast this afternoon and DH is doing venison having been given some by a friend. I am staying clear of the kitchen apart from making the roasties.Have a good day all and stay warm.Coxy xxCross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings13
