Buying a Used car from a Dealer

Hi All,
I bought a second-hand car from a dealer towards the end of October/early November 2023. The car recently developed a rattle at the front and this morning a mechanic diagnosed it as a gearbox issue. The mechanic advised that I would still have cover from the dealer to have the issue repaired by them or for them to repair the issue themselves. Is this correct and how should I approach the dealer?
Thanks in advance.

Pop back to dealer, say you have this issue & can they look at it.
All depends on just what the issue is & if dealer says it is down to wear & tear or a consumable part.
Can depend on age of car etc.
New car would not be a issue & high mileage old car can easily be pushed in above direction.Life in the slow lane0 -
The dealer is now denying that they're a dealer.0

Sounds like a dealer, so you want to gather evidence to prove it, so if more ads online or cars on their site take photos.
How did you pay?

Gather that evidence. He's clearly a dealer, and there are more expectations of him as a dealer than if this were a private sale.0 -

As asked earlier what age/ mileage was the car as that depends on your rights if he is classed as a dealer.

Try to contact Trading Standards to see if there have been any previous complaints/reports of him being a dealer and denying the fact. Where did you see the advert? Is it possible to check for previous sales ads from him?
