That sounds like a horrid son of your sister, I once put bleach on my sisters sofa by accident I was very apologetic whereas that lad sounds positively horrid, no tea lights present today I hope and all shoes off I hope. Wishing you a better time then last, hopefully one you enjoy. I hope all okayX1

Afternoon all!
Well there were upsides yesterday and downsidesMy nephew decided to stay at home so I was glad of that, my DS and him are very close in age and would usually go off and play computer games together but DS wasn't yet home...so I was glad he didn't come *feel quite ashamed saying that but tis true* so that was the upside.
Downside was my sister came over for a reason, she had wanted a haircut and as I had forgotten to bring scissors to hers three times in a row she decided to take matters into her own hands and come to me...I didn't know this though until she arrived. So I spent an hour doing her hair (for free obviously she'd never pay me lol)
Her and her DP had a look round the house. It is the first time he has seen it. And the second time she has seen it, she last came over before we had carpets installed......that was over a year ago!! So you can see how little I get family visitorsanyway they kinda pulled apart our choice of decor and the fact we sold the koi, slated the rainbow coloured bookcases (well technically the bookcases are white but I colour code my books) and they kinda made me feel down about everything. It was envy. I kept telling myself that and laughing it off but it was relentless and tiring.
They stayed over 7 hoursand I noticed her DP started every conversation with NO. I.E I would say, I got rid of the fish because the pond wasn't deep enough and I was concerned they had no space to barely move. He would say NO fish grow to the size of their pond. (these fish were ruddy huge and the pond is 2ft deep.) I said, I decided to build a shelving unit around that to hide the pipes, he responded with NO I would have done "insert some stupid idea in here"...and then he proceeded to tell me how he would have done my house up. Sigh. It was relentless. If I have thoughts of, I would do something differently to you I don't immediately think to always put down the effort and choices they have made and done....I found it upsetting. DP arrived home four hours into their visit and I was grateful for the ally.
I ended up having to feed them dinner and then I said at 6.45 pm let me walk you to the train station..I need to stretch my legs anyway and walk the dogI wanted to make sure they left lol.
DP and I watched them get on the train just after 7....we collapsed into bed exhausted at 9pm and slept till 8am almostThis morning was bright and sunny and I needed to ground myself so I said let's go do the garden! So we cut the hedge, grass front and back, and swept all pathways around our property. It took hours but I was grateful for some fresh air. The hedges I worked out must be over 100ft long (front and back sides of them) so it explains why I am achy now. It's looking very smart now though and it is a job I had on my list to do.
DP has sold some bits on fb this morning and I think he has someone coming to collect something else later. Nice to be clearing out the garage even if not big amounts. I am doing a simple dinner today, a HM version of a subway plant ball sub. I am too exhausted to even bother with a big dinnerI might make some wedges to go with them, or some salad potatoes.
NSD yesterday and today. I have done a few TT across to MOP I will tally them up and update signature. I have finally had a few surveys whilst I have been sat watching tv, not enough for payout but I will just keep screen open whilst I watch a nice Sunday afternoon movieLazy afternoon planned as I have overdone it with the gardening this morning. Might walk the dog in a bit too although one of the neighbours kindly took him round the block with her as he was staring out the gate pleading at her as she walked by with her dog (we were cutting the hedge) so I don't actually need to bother if I don't want to

How rotten of your sisters DP, well done for surviving through it, sad that we have to do these things to maintain some sort of family life. (Although I don't admittedly - Which leaves me with just the folks better then the alternative) They were there for a long time...overstayed their welcome..you should have kicked them out! I would have! and I would not have felt guilty about it. I don't put up with any CRXX. And you feel a modicum better for it...But your choice. There are not many people that choose my way...Also I should have put together a few friends or OH, but I haven't because the cards don't fall that way. Obviously there are a few times when I bump into family members, I rather keep that minimal. I am not looking forward (If I am still alive) to the funeral of both folks. Not only will my only friendlies disapppear from me, I will have to deal with the rest of the shiesters!! 😂😂😂 Sorry Rant over, I hate family!1

i think you did very well to hold it together and not get outwardly cross! 7 hours is a long time to put up with such rude behaviour. But at least their sone didnt come, you only had to contend with sis and her hubby.Gardening is very satisfying, getting outside, changing the energy and getting a good job done ~ brilliantFlowers x♥️ ♥️ ♥️🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸Decluttering 2025 So far 403 / 2025

How rude to comment on YOUR home like that. You can paint / decorate it in what ever way you like. Good job they don't come over very often.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

and the funniest thing is we have neutralised it all so most is just a boring Egyptian cotton atm because we were covering some awful colours (think dark browns, purples and reds) and we fully intend to go around again and add our touches when we had finished the building renovations and made it livable (unless of course we sell we will leave as is)....AND her house is all magnolia so very similar so I just had to laugh because she was inadvertently dissing her own style too
jealousy is not a good trait!

The gardening really helpedI am smiling once again! And every time I look out the window I have a nice straight hedge and short grass staring back at me now
so that makes me happy.
