  • Good news today - the lost contact lenses have been found! 🥳 😁👏🏼 £57 back into the budget.

Bad news - car got a puncture, we needed a new tyre. £113.
That's the car maintenance fund emptied £50 🙂 and the £57 back from the contacts and a few quid taken from somewhere else too.

Bad luck with the puncture. Glad it was offset to some degree 😊

I meant to say btw, we have upped our food budget here as it was making me miserable feeling like I was failing every month. It’s also made our overall budget more realistic as other pots needed to be juggled to align with the new food budget.

Just caught up, well done on the new job  :), but boo to the puncture  :(
  • KK- DD found them in a box I swear we both checked at least twice!! They were inside a smaller box and in a bag 😂😂
I'm happy about that though it came at the right time.
This month is a tough one already without car tyre punctures and new jobs requiring new clothes ...

Yesterday was super productive albeit a spendy one. I found lots of clothes for myself in a CS we haven't been in for a while. So I bought the lot as they've no changing rooms. One is to go back it doesn't fit. The others all work and I have a capsule wardrobe nearly ....for £33.50 I got two dresses and four tops. I already have two pairs of trousers so these bits can all be mixed with one another. I stuck to a colour theme to enable the mixing and matching - everything will either go with navy or black or has one of these colours going through it. All tops are patterned and decent brands (sea salt, white stuff etc) and all are conservative enough for the job.

DP was more hard to please. For every men's rail of clothing the ladies had five more... nothing was even in his size tbh in the men's section, so nothing purchased. We've decided instead to take him to an outlet designer place today and get a few bits there. I've tried to teach him about capsule wardrobes. So he's a couple of pairs of good trousers but needs one more (probably chinos), he's a nice white shirt and a couple of smart tweed type jackets. So I reckon he needs a few more shirts and another pair of smart jeans and a new coat and he's sorted. We've no money. But he has important national business meetings this week coming where he's going to be introduced to all. One overnight stay somewhere too so needs a few outfits. So the CC is coming out 😒

We hope to pay this off straight away though at the end of the month or before then if I can sell some of this furniture. Sometimes it's just got to be done.

We also went to big 💙 blue and yellow 💛 shop to size up bookcases. The billy one is too big 😑 by two cm. Seriously....! So we are back to the drawing board on that one. At least it has helped though as we can tick that off the list now as not suitable as I've been searching for them on FB  (thank goodness none came up as available 😂). We have found another option and it's cheaper but not sure if that will work either. These alcoves are the smallest I've ever had. Really tricky to work with! I will make it work though even if we have to build from scratch!

Right off to see if we can sort DP wardrobe out. I doubt it will be anywhere near as cheap as mine was sadly but it's got to be done.

  • It is done and omg 😳 we've spent a small fortune. He got the coat, a jacket, jeans, 4 shirts and I also got boots that I needed (threw away last year's pair as they were beyond repair) and a cardigan. And he got a laptop bag. We've spent close to £600 today 😑 I'm consoling myself telling myself that we've been together for five years now and he's barely had new clothes in all that time so when you break it down it hasn't cost a lot really 😏😑 but the budgeting part of me is just dying right now wondering where we will get money to pay for this. I will have it paid off ASAP though. I'm determined not to start our lives in new house and new jobs off in debt.

It was a necessity, no need to worry with your pooled incomes you'll be back on top in no time...But I know what you mean, and that was a big spend. I bet DP is happier now he is set with clothing. Happy Husband happy life??🤣🤣 Is there mens clothes on vinted, that could have been tried out? I bet he looks dashing!!

Do you have anything you could sell on Vinted or Ebay to help pay for it?
You’re also still due some money from last horrible job x
sometimes these things have to be done and it will be a one off for quite some time by the sounds of it

First impressions count so he has to look smart, small price to pay tbh.  I’ve bouht my adult son’s new wardrobe off Vinted saved me a fortune and he’s not bothered at all.
