Morning all! I've an empty house, dropped DP off to the train station at 7.50, kids off to school at 8am, just FLD and myself in at the mo
I am meeting my sister later on for doggy walks. I've had to coax her out of her hibernation to meet me with promises of some doggy jackets that never fit FLD so are like new (and I get to declutter some more yay).
I need some washing up liquid still, I forgot to get it yesterday. Remembered the squirrel food thoughpriorities right .... I have fed the squirrel in plain view of the neighbours house. I hope to draw them all into me rather than her traps that she clearly leaves even more in view now I have told her how I feel about it.
I have some jobs to do today and really need to find some motivation from somewhere:- Washing clothes (another load has appeared)
- folding and putting away the three washes already done (I wish we were minimalists with clothes)
- make some mash & adapt the spag bol to a cottage pie
- Hoover upstairs
- pop to shops for washing up liquid (thankfully there is only a few breakfast bits that are needing doing)

I got all the jobs done aside from dinner, will do that in a moment.
I hung the washing out and it was probably 80% dry and rain came from literally, NOWHERE ughhh and soaked everything again. So that is in the dryer now. Annyoying.
I walked the dog with my sister & went back to her house. I have come back with allergies playing up as I am allergic to her puppy who wouldn't leave me alone, nor FLD poor old man was absolutely harassed by her. He's come home and passed out from stress I think. The pup is almost 6 months old and hasn't been trained to do anything yetso it was very bitey, barky, jumpy, and kept using FLD to body slam into for much of the walk. He hid behind me in the end. I know she is a pup and energetic but sheesh I hope she learns some sort of control soon as before much longer she will actually be bigger than FLD and end up seriously hurting him.
My sis had changed her furniture around and wanted me to go and help her as she couldn't quite get the layout right. I suggested a move of two things which I think she is going to try, it has got me coming home wanting to get on with my house which was good, I will take motivation wherever I can find it
I have been up to DD to see how she wants her room doing and all she did was shoot down every idea of mine which was deflating, I can see which layout will work best for energy flow, heat flow, to stop damp and condensation etc and she is adamant she wants it to stay as it is....bed pushing up against the radiator and window and into a corner so you can't walk around it. She can be really difficult to talk to sometimes and just shuts you down so I left her and came back downstairs to see what I want doing with the front room. I have had the billy bookcases on notification on my phone since I last spoke about it. I have messaged people when the right size has come up and not one single response of yes we have some available still! So I think I will have to buy them new if I decide that route. Am now thinking I would like some cupboards instead though at the bottom and shelving at the top so will have a look and see what 1kea has for that instead (and then also check fb for good quality second hand ones).
Right suppose my time for drawing plans is up best get the dinner on for the kids. Oh and spends today were around £6. I got my washing up liquid, some bananas and a meal deal as I was going to my sister's house after our walk and it was pushing on for 1.30 and I was hungry! I shouldn't have got it but I did. Oh well...LSDay really though even if not a NSD.

I wish I could but there is signs of damp already on that wall
so basically it has to be moved so there is some air flow. I was hoping to get her on side so she would be alright with it as she can be so stubborn, but I think it will be a case of I will just move it and she'll have to get used to it. The window in her room (most windows in the house) need re-conditioning or changing I think that will fix the problem but atm we can't afford that. And I am having to climb over her bed every day to open windows and dry them off from condensation (and even after asking her to do it she just doesn't).
I'm sure I wasn't this difficult as a teen.....
DP is on his way home after a long day in London. I have done dinner it is just cooking in oven, I will save him some although it might be late when he is back I bet he's hungry.
I had just got rid of the washing pile and have another one againI think if I were to win the lotto it wouldn't be a chef or even a maid that I hired it would be someone to do the clothes, washing, ironing, folding and putting away

Morning all,
Wow it's frosty and cold here this morning. The grass looks white and there is condensation on every window this morning. Heating is on if for nothing else to try and dry it out.
I need to pop to the shops. Need milk and a couple of other bits we've run out of.
DP was talking to me about his new job, he needs new clothes...as do I. I live in my jeans in the winter and have not much else after my excellent efforts of decluttering 😳🤔😏🤣. In one way it was good to clear out what I didn't love and what didn't fit but in another this has left me in an awkward predicament now of needing a new capsule wardrobe and no money to buy it for work. Same for DP. His shirts are tatty. His jeans shrunk (very expensive smart ones too not too happy about that). He needs a new coat as that's tatty. The list goes on. And his new job requires him to look the part.
I want to create a small capsule wardrobe for my work. I already have black and navy trousers suitable. I would like either a couple of plain tops to mix and match (I only wear long sleeve tshirts right now which are too tight). And I have some cardigans I could wear but might need a couple more the ones I have are very old and tatty. And I need some boots. I'd like to start with just those few bits and then can add to it I think rather than go mad with the n3xt card. So I'm looking on v1nted, but will have to use n3xt card if I can't find anything suitable. The thing is we don't have much spare at all this month thanks to my wages not being paid properly. DP also doesn't know what his wages will look like at the end of this month because he swapped jobs. 😬 I don't like the not knowing - just hoping we have enough to pay all the bills and buy some food. That would be a good start.
Once our new jobs get underway and we get proper wages we have decided we're upping the food budget. We're sick of struggling to get by and having no treats in or snacks. We make do with so much already. We don't smoke, drink, bet, spend on stupid stuff we have never been on holiday whilst we've been together (5 years the other day)...so we're like what is the point of working when we also don't get to eat well. I'll think about what I want the new budget to be but I think I may add another £20 a week. My two kids eat an adult portion each now- DS often two portions as he's always going through a growth spurt (he's nearly 6ft already!) So £125 a week isn't stretching far enough. I've replaced bananas and apples three times this week alone. £580 seems like so much though I'm also struggling with that 🤣 -£145 a week ...£36.25 per person per week....hmm when I break it down actually that seems right to me.
I have another way of making money in the pipeline....it's also something that I hold dear to my heart and would help someone in need. I'm going to speak to my friend about it today as she can get the ball rolling on it. It might well be too much hard work though whilst I have another job on the go so will ask for more info.
Right off to finish some decluttering I abandoned yesterday as I needed to stop for dinner.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Capsule wardrobes for work are great, and the charity shops always have loads of things that are suitable. Re: the bookcase / cupboard with shelves debate, the big blue and yellow swedish shop have a couple of mix and match options that might work or you can use a kitchen cabinet for the bottom cupboard and then a cheap bookcase for the top part. I almost did that for my desk when we moved, with an old kitchen worktop in between to make the desk part but couldn't find things that fit the size of the space.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20172

CS and v1nted are on my list to scour for capsule bits and bobs 😁 I lost my log in for bayE debating whether to start a new one from scratch 🤔
Yes that's exactly where we are going to look- tape measure in hand 🤣 as their paper ones always break lol . .as the alcoves are really small in the front room- less than 80cm wide. They're much bigger in the dining room for some reason and that would have been easy to shop for. I actually said to DP what about kitchen cupboards! So will be sure to visit the kitchen aisle as well as the cupboard aisle. I'm happy for DP to custom make one too but he said these days after you've bought all the fixtures and fittings and finishes it is probably just as cheap to buy ready made and much easier.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Right I've been ruthless. I've bagged up a whole bag of stuff for CS. It was stuff I liked enough to buy (clearly 🤣) but it just feels homeless in my house. Nowhere seems right for any of it. So random curtains, knick-knacks, porcelain ornament type things and lots of canvas pics and other paintings.
Also listed our largest furniture item for sale on FB. I did list it quite high. I'm happy to let it go for that price. I'm not too happy to let it go for much less. So we'll see how that goes. If it goes though it's enough to do our front room shelves and other bits in there that need doing. I've also listed a couple of other bits that might sell... My house feels cluttered and I don't like that feeling so something had to be done. 🤣😁 We'll have nothing left by the end of the month if I carry on though so might leave it at that for today.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000.
