Apple sell refurbished gear. You'd need to check the stock and they probably aren't as cheap as elsewhere, but you'd be hard pressed to tell them from new.

Apple iPads tend to last longer. What are best websites for refurbished ones. Thanks everyone for your comments
Apple is the only company that makes iPads, so you could equally say 'No company makes iPads as badly as Apple'.

I read that comment "Apple iPads tend to last longer" as meaning that the iPad has longer life than competitors tablets, not that Apple make the best iPads.
I don't know whether iPads are more durable than tablets from competitors, but the OP is entitled to their own assessment in that regard.

I have an Android tablet with Gingerbread on that cost under £50, over 12 years old.  I recently stuck a new battery in
    which was £9.99 off Amazon.

It's old and slow but it works for what I need, the CNC Dashboard app and Timer App takes a few seconds to load up
not snappy like modern devices but it's no problem.  Down to how you treat things. Battery kept between 40% -80%
and charged slowly to prevent heat buildup.

Hardware tends to be long lasting with a few exceptions if looked after.

It is the lack of up to date security support and software that tends to be the issue with older tech.
