Hello all , I'm late today but I do have an excuse, honest.
I had an appointment for an ECG and another BP check this morning, it was only at the surgery and both results were fine, at least something is going well. We then went to the local shop for bread and milk and some more lemsips, then around the corner to the meat van to buy some of their delicious sausages, trouble is I tend to buy other meats while I'm there and spend a bit more than I intend to spend 🤨
Dad rang last night on his house phone as he couldn't find his mobile, we kept ringing it until eventually he found it. It was in a box in a cupboard, I think he's getting more confused by the day, maybe his cold is making things worse as I don't know what cocktail of extra tablets he's taking. We'll have to keep a close eye on him.
I haven't read along yet, I'll do that after lunch.
Take care all, hugs to the poorly ones and anyone struggling at the moment.

Back again - get anyone give me some advice on making tasty soup?
I made some last week and it was awful!
I had a swede, carrots, a leek and lentils and 3 stock cubes - no measuring or weighing - but that's how I've always made soup and it used to turn out nice. This had a weird taste. Any tips? x6 -
Don't put swede in it, it can go bitter, carrots make it sweet, add celery for extra flavour [ you won't taste it in the final thing] and for stock cubes/powder stuff I use knorr stock pot jellies, they're the best ones I've found for flavour that doesn't overwhelm and actually tastes almost like proper stock. Lentils are quite peppery too.How much soup did you make? I would normally use one stock pot for a pot of soup unless it was a really big one I might use two, but three is a bit much I think. And what kind of lentils? green, red, puy?I just made some last night because I'm hungry but don't feel like cooking, then can't find anything instant so I thought, soup...One onion, one leek [possibly a bit too much leek but it needed using - I didn't need to put it in but I was just using it up], one small carrot, three sticks of celery because I like it, one tin of borlotti and the water and another tin of hot water, one stock cube, one heel of parmesan, cook for an hour or so on low. I could have chucked in some pasta but there wasn't room because for a change I'd actually used a small [for me] saucepan not a whopper....With the lentils, I'd have either have gone ham or bacon, or cooked the same as the soup above, one onion, two celery, one carrot [ all chopped fine] lentils, water, tin of tomatoes, bit of tomato puree, stock cube, and then chucked in some cooked sausages [ like a sloppy stew rather than a soup]Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi8

A very late post from me - been a weird day. I woke late, coughed for ages, went out to take away the piles of recycling cluttering up the boot of my car, came home and sat down. I phoned for a telephone appointment with my GP as I am worried about the pain in my right side even though I'm sure it's not a collapsed lung and just a pulled muscle. She's sent a script for ABs which I'll collect in the morning. I won't start to take them just yet, will wait to see how I pan out. It's been a busy day outside on my normally very quiet track, it was the funeral of the chap up the hill's stepmother so there's been lots of comings and goings. It all got a little blocked when the postie arrived, she had to reverse into a layby for a wee while. Now I've watched Reacher I'll have another hot drink, take two paracetamol and think about bed!7

Gers - do you think it might be Pleurisy?
I popped to SA this morning - there were donations so I stayed to sort them.
It rained here until after lunch. I took 3 bags of donations to the charity shop.
On the way home - I called at the SA - I couldn't believe the amount of black sacks for me to sort. The recycling chap didn't come so I am having to pile up bags outside under a plastic sheet.
Mr F had a visit from rehab then took a bag of stuff to the charity shop.
We are on food delivery collection tonight.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
