Good morning all and thanks for the start @nmlc xx
Gosh the rain last night was torrential! Really hope everyone on here is safe and isn’t too affected. Calmer today but a bit chillier and set to get colder from tomorrow.
We had a SW curry last night and I simultaneously made fish pie which made for an interesting niff in the kitchen! Pie just needs heating through later. I used up some Christmas cheese in the mash too. I managed a full nights’ sleep without needing to get up which was good – almost 100% back to normal now with symptoms all but gone. We have a fairly quiet weekend ahead which is much needed.
Wow @Wimbledonwomble a wool shop AND a butcher! We have neither here and have an extensive High Street. Sign of the times that it’s mainly coffee houses and restaurants of various cuisines. Hope you find a nice project to get back into knitting x
Hugs @Suffolksue - not an easy time for you or your DGS xx
Good to see you posting @Mehefin
That sounds like an interesting tour @AlwaysAllie – do report back!
Oh @dp1 that sounds very testing – let’s hope you hear soon and they don’t keep you waiting on a decision xx
Have a good day everyone and hugs to all the poorlies x

Morning all, it's a brighter start today. I'm enjoying watching the little birds feeding on the bird table, makes a change from the hefty woodpigeons who can just about squeeze under it's roof.I'm sorry so many of you are still poorly, feel better soon, hugs to you and those grieving. There is a police car parked outside next door ( they often park on our stretch of road and walk down to the main road with mobile speed guns) This means their little dog is barking like mad, he never shuts up at the best of times. He's about 1 now. I know ours barks if the bell rings, but he barks at nothing- he's just gone outside now at the back so the little birds will no doubt scarper. The neighbour does apologise when I see her, but laughs it off as cute, he's not been trained to walk on the lead & pulls like mad. OOps turned into a bit of a rant there, sorry.I have a success to report, the freezers have been inventorised (is that a word
) I made a lovely tasty beef stew last night, and found a small bag of sliced spuds for DH. If I hadn't written down the whereabouts, I'd have had no idea where they were and given up, leaving them to languish for another few months
It did take me a long time though!
I might manage a walk today, go up to the park and see what the water level is like, DH said yesterday it was nearly spilling over onto the road, then it comes down ours. I'm so thankful for the flood relief work that was carried out here in front of our houses (8 years ago now!) The scenes further South look horrendous, I feel so sorry for those affected.
Right better have a tidy up, take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)9 -
Morning all; thank goodness it's stopped raining.
Drove down the M1 to Morris practice at Watford last night but when I got home at 11pm our road was coned off because it had flooded! I could see council lorries further down, putting out sandbags, so I took a chance and drove down and managed to get round and onto our drive. It was far too deep to walk. DH was about 10mins behind me, as he'd been to a different venue, and by then he was stopped from doing that and had to go round the long way and just about managed to get into our close. The drains just can't cope with all the surface water in our part of town.
Anyway, this morning the water has receded a bit and we'll be ok to drive out. We're meeting DD at DGS's new school so that the teachers know us if we need to pick him up any time in the future. After that I think we'll treat ourselves to lunch out, although I'm being careful what I eat until I have this tooth fixed in a couple of weeks.
Hope everyone's day goes well. Spring is coming!10 -
Morning all
Terrible weather here yesterday and overnight most of the roads out of the village are flooded, I dropped Rob off at 3.30 yesterday and it was touch and go to get home, an hour later and the police had closed the main road, it seems to have eased a bit this morning so hopefully I will be able to get out later.
I have the dentist this afternoon it’s a new dentist after mine went private, I am pleased to have got another one as they are very rare now.
Dogs to be walked later and I’m sure they will come home covered in mud again I seem to be washing the sofa throws every couple of days now.
Hugs to those in need xx
Have good days all and take care xx8 -

Morning! Woken up by postie, good job really or I'd still be in bed now although once I'm asleep, I like to stay asleep as long as possible..Done a lot a lot of coughing this morning so far, hopefully it might ease off later, I have a doc appointment [ one of the ones they send you rather than you ask for] so showering and being presentable and all sorts are on the cards. I've been watching some recipes by a bloke called Abz from a place called The Cardamom Lounge in Barnsley, so I am planning to go there at some point this year with a road trip for a few days on the way, so if anyone lives vaguely near there, and wants me to visit, give me a shout
Today I have getting clean plans but not doing an awful lot else. If OH brings the washing down when he comes home I might do some of that.
WL, you were lucky to both be ok to get back! Rosy, well done on the inventory. I ended up wearing gardening or diy gloves when I did it because otherwise I'd have had frostbite! And you rant away, cats I can understand not being trained but not dogs. Coxy, fingers crossed for your dad today. Fish pie sounds awesome! Gers, I hope you aren't heading to pneumonia too! WW, don't forget too, time spent napping in the day upsets a longer sleep too [ or at least it does for me, I end up not being tired and then sleeping late both ways] Sue, hope the rest of the week is a bit gentler on you both...AA, sounds like a lovely day out and interesting too. camelot, the knitting needles ahve set up home with the odd socks from washing machine - well done on the crafting! dp1, fingers crossed for a good outcome...commiserations to those with floods or poorly or sad or down, take care everyone anyway, grim blummin weather!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi8 -
Good Morning
I wish this lurgy would go, been in bed for last 2 days most of the time. Hope everyone with the lurgy is recovering. If it continues I might ring the dr as I’ve a build up of fluid under 1 eye, a nasty cough & pain in my jaw but think that’s due to congestion.Hope those experiencing floods are safe. This weather is awful.
Not much being done here. Have done an online shop yesterday as have no energy to go out. I managed to unload the dishwasher and load it again as ds2 can’t manage that yet.Have got some ready meals for ds2 too. I have no appetite either.
enough of woe is me. Hope everyone is doing ok. take care8 -
Good morning all
Don't sleep much and the sound of the torrential rain last night made it almost impossible.
Had a call from Cares' support yesterday, she wanted to know how I was managing, spent most of the conversation in tears but it was good to talk.
Good to see you post @mehefin
Thoughts are with you @Suffolksue
Hope the poorlies feel better soon
Take care allIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.8 -

Hello _taff, no not napping in day ,just sleeping better at night ! I have never been a good sleeper but meditation does help. I usually do it late afternoon and then become quite sleepy early evening . My sleeping became worse after being stressed at work and a bereavement and I would start to dread the next morning in the evening if you see what I mean.
No knitting wool bought yet as buses were all over the place. So I had to wait ages and couldn't face another one to the wool shop. Will go next week.A man said the bus times are different as the schools and colleges are closed. I didn't know that .
It's a brighter day here and much colder. Sorry for the poor flooded people .it must be awful to be so disrupted, repeatedly for some.
Just going to have a cup of coffee and then clean the bathroom. Pleased that the shopping was less than I thought it would be . What a change . When I was working/ spending I would have found something I " needed " with the extra .
Silver oldie. Sorry you were so upset but glad that you were able to talk.
