A local "highly recommended" trader may have ripped me off.

Yea I was thinking the same, ironically that's pretty much what the letter says too.
"We don't want to cause you unnecessary worry, but it's possible you may be contacted again by the scammer who'll try to convince you to withdraw your claim. They may even say you'll be able to get your money back..."
From what I understand from the CRM system, the banks share 50% of the refund cost, so they may end up closing his account.
I posted the review in the group I originally got recommendations for, for him, just as a heads up, that was removed by Facebooks automated admin system after being reported.
So I posted a follow up just to say thanks for the advice and offers of help (I had quite a few offers of free door installation), that was reported for "Hate speech" by his girlfriend and best friends girlfriend and was locked, they probably reported the first post too.
But it's done, the review is on his facebook business page, he's blocked me from it and now blocked guest viewing of that page, but it's still there.1 -
If you can be bothered, I'm fairly sure you can appeal your reviews being removed - if you do I think a human looks at them, so you can point out the complaints are people linked to the 'rogue trader'
That's 'if' you can be bothered - from what you've said, they were up long enough for local people to see them and it caused a reaction
