Do invalid speeding tickets appear in Driver Record or count as penalties or convictions?

Thanks everyone for your replies.
It's on the page 14, 15 of the AN form from Home Office. The wording on the pdf form and the online form differ slightly, but ask for the same thing. The online form asks if you have had "a criminal conviction" or "a penalty for a driving offence", etc...400ixl said:NIP's are not convictions or other penalties if they did not result in fixed notice penalties or court convictions. Those will show as penalties on your license.
I would also question if the form is asking for criminal convictions or penalties rather than including motoring offences. What Home Office form is it (they usually have a reference number).
Cautions, warnings or reprimands will apply to anything which has been given officially of which you would be aware. Again I would have thought they are only talking about criminal.According to that, I should not mention offences for which I did not get a penalty or was not convicted, and that would be the end of it. In fact the Guide to the form (an additional document that helps filling the form) asks to print and include a summary of the record of endorsements that appear in the above mentioned website www .gov. uk / view-driving-licence , which in my case would be the 3 offences for which I paid a penalty. But the guide also says that a criminal record check will be made. So if criminal offences wihtout penalty or conviction also make their way into the criminal record or Driver Record, I should mention them on the cover letter of the application.
What does a "criminal record" contain in the UK? The list of previous convictions or penalties or the list of criminal offenses?Aretnap said:400ixl said:NIP's are not convictions or other penalties if they did not result in fixed notice penalties or court convictions. Again I would have thought they are only talking about criminal.Motoring offences are criminal offences and must be declared if you're asked about criminal offences, unless the question specifically says otherwise.(Decriminalised parking tickets and some council-enforced bus lane-type contraventions are exceptions - but speeding is always a criminal matter).
I think this answers the question.TooManyPoints said:...so no chance that dropped offences appear there.
"Dropped offences" (at least as far as traffic matters go) will not appear anywhere. As far as offences for which you were either convicted by a court or received an endorsement by way of a fixed penalty and for which you gave foreign driving licence details, the DVLA will create a "ghost licence" against your name and DOB. You need to contact them to see what details they hold in that respect.I had requested a record from DVLA with my name and DOB, but I won't receive a reply before the time I need to submit this Home Office form. It's great to know that "dropped offences" won't be there.Car_54 said:
So, since it’s not for an insurance company, it’s utterly irrelevant. Unless I’m missing something.evinshire said:This is not for an insurance company, it's for the Home Office. But according to www. askthe . police. uk / faq / ?id=19bcb128-d205-ee11-8f6e-00224840d1ba"You should inform your insurance company of any penalty points you have received. The details you provide to them form the basis for your insurance quote and subsequent insurance cover. If any of the details change or are incorrect and you do not inform your insurer, it may affect your cover."According to that, you do not need to report offences for which you have not been prosecuted nor had to pay a penalty to an insurance company.Perhaps irrelevant for this special case, but most of the people reading this thread will probably be looking for information relating to insurance, so i thought it might be helpful to mention it. It's an official statement.

A criminal record shows only convictions, i.e. where you have been found guilty of an offece in court. It does not included unproven accusations, suspicions or rumours.evinshire said:

Further, it only included "reportable" offences, as listed in the relevant legislation. Most minor motoring offences such as speeding are not reportable, and so don't appear on a criminal record.0
