Good morning all: another wet day in stall here.
Yesterday's walk was an easy 6 miles, as it was very flat around the canal and lakes and the time went quickly in a group of 9. My friend's husband had made delicious shortbread, which he shared at the half way point, and that kept us going very nicely. Three other people joined us for the pub lunch at the end but the pub, although not too busy, was very slow with the orders so we didn't finish until 4pm.
Today we have Royal Mail collecting a parcel we have paid for online; a new thing for us, as we'd normally just take it up to the Post Office, but DH thought it was worth giving it a try. DD and the GCs are also dropping in, so that will mean lunch for us all at some point.
Hope things go smoothly for you today Silver-Oldie and you feel a little bit of progress.
Feels like a Monday today - return to normality!11 -
Morning folks. I started posting earlier and then my groceries arrived so that scuppered the job. It's only fridge and cupboard stuff but I got some bizarre subs or short dated stuff. I suppose after effects of all the holidays and not getting restocked. Not impressed! There was absolutely nothing for the freezers on the order as I have once again made the same NY resolution I have been making for 5 years!!! And that's to stop hoarding food, get stocks down and combine everything into 1 freezer. Wish me luck on that!
I got all the decs down yesterday and the fibre optic tree, which decided to die on me over the hols, has been rammed into the wheelie. Everything else went upstairs and put away. I have left a few lights here and there just to brighten the room up a bit.
I did think I might have a wander round our depleted town today but very heavy rain is forecast so I am staying put. There are jobs awaiting if I feel inclined as they have been getting ignored since before Christmas.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. RUBY so sorry to hear about your DM and the traumatic evening at A & E. I hope you get some help sorted soon. Take care all be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Morning all Its been raining all night and looks set to stay. I need to pop to JL for a couple of bits i ordered for DGS a cot duvet and cover from their everyday range which i have to say for baby bits has proved well worth the cheaper option as it seems very good quality.
Dinner tonight sausage casserole and mash .
Silver Oldie I hope today goes as well as it can and I am sending you some extra strength just remember we are all here wether its a worry or just a chat x
Ruby fingers crossed that the agency get back to you and mum gets the help to lead an independent life which is so important for them
Right better get on the WM beckons and the hoover after a day of nothingness yesterday
Have a good day one and all stay safe dry and warm xxx

Morning everyone
Eldest DD left early this morning, my brother picked her up at 5.30 and they got the train to Newcastle together as he was going to work early. She won't be home until about 5pm so no doubt I'll get plenty of texts throughout the day. It's been lovely having her at home so I'm feeling sad that I won't see her until the summer - I'm planning to go to Germany when we break up for the summer holidays. Never mind, I'm sure she'll have plenty of adventures this year to tell me about - she's going to Norway this weekend, just because she's never been and the flights were cheap!
It's meant to be sunny again today so I have a load of bedding doing its' stuff in the washing machine. Other than that just pottering around jobs today. Little one helped me take all the Christmas bits down so they're to tidy away properly. I still have her birthday presents to wrap...I've got her a keyboard which she will love - I expect it will live at my house! - some more wooden food for her kitchen and a stable and little horses to go with the Polly Pockets I got her for Christmas. She's down to just 1 more sleep now so no doubt will drive her mummy mad today.
Your visit sounds lovely Gers. Yesterday morning my dad sang Auld Lang Syne and he, my mam, little one and I held hands - it's fascinating really that he can remember all the words but can't remember who visited he day before. On Christmas day he sang Blaydon Races and the Lambton Worm - both all the way through without hesitation - little one was fascinated.
I better get on...hope everyone has a good day today x10 -
Hi everyone,
Bella, I'm a fan of the JL everyday ranges and also M and S Home range, both are very good value and quality.
Ruby, good luck with the quest for help, it's hard to find a conscientious, reliable cleaner.
SO, I hope the day goes ok.
The family are going home today, we may go home as well, I'm erring towards going because I am averaging 4 hours sleep a night here so I'm hoping I'll sleep better at home. It depends what time l and B are ready, if it's too late Steve and I will stay here another night.
We had a lovely lunch at a country hotel yesterday, we lingered by the fire for ages. Apart from that not a lot was done.
I hope all the poorly people are starting to feel better.
Have a good day.10 -
Morning all, wet here- what's new! Thanks nmlcRuby sorry poor Mum is unwell, the A&E visit must have been very uncomfortable for her, hope she's better soon.Silver-Oldie , thinking of you today, you have our virtual hands holding yoursGers sounds like you had a nice evening. TA good luck with your resolution! but I won't hold my breathDH isn't up yet but his cold progressed as the evening wore on so he went to bed early, then got up about 12 saying he was hungry and couldn't get to sleep!I have rather a lot of milk, I did get a bit extra over xmas, and ended up making a big rice pud to use some. Our lovely milk lady has been and brought more this morning so I have 5 glass 1 litre bottles in the fridge, I'll cancel Thursdays delivery. Thought I might make some yogurt in the I Pot though, that'll shift a bit. I have done it before but not for a while. Not sure on tea yet, last night I made a pork hoisin stir fry. Might get some fish out.Take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)9

Morning all, I didn't sleep very well last night, too much thinking, so I'm tired today. It's a dark day, enough to have the light on in the house again and once more hammering down with rain. Unfortunately we have to go out as I get my results back at the hospital, I'm not looking forward to it but que sera, sera, it's out of my hands. It's a different hospital this time so there shouldn't be a problem with parking but we'll have to go earlier than normal as there are flood alerts on the roads and we might need a boat !
I'll stop wittering now and send gentle hugs to the sad, worried or poorly ones.
Take care all

Morning everyone I was back to one of my cleaning jobs today back to work properly tomorrow I know you will all be sick of hearing me saying this but I’m really ready to finish the next 60 days can’t go fast enough I’ve enjoyed my time off now it’s just head down and get on with it . I had a good couple of walks yesterday one was unexpected my youngest son rang to say they were going on a mental health walk it was four miles and we were going to watch the sunset it was hilarious I forgot my hat and he had a spare in the care which the grandchildren hate so of course I wanted to wear it all the more it was so cloudy we never seen the sunset we also couldn’t see the potholes as it was so dark and my son had forgotten to charge his body torch an alpaca came walking towards us in a field we thought was empty a poor man came walking out of nowhere I don’t know who jumped the highest him or us of course I told the grandchildren I was sure he was a murderer I loved it what a laugh so it’s now going to be a regular thing plus torches . I hope everyone is getting over there coughs and colds. Nan I will be thinking of yo you and keeping everything crossed Silver Oldie take care it’s another step and we are always here for you. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing11

Hi everyone and thanks for the start @nmlc x
A belated Happy New Year to all on here. Sorry I didn’t get on before the big event or yesterday as was poorly with cystitis on NYE and spent most of yesterday clearing up after hosting 20 on the night itself. Despite not feeling 100% I did enjoy the celebrations, we did a quiz plus some party games which everyone joined in with.
Put some washing on early doors, so DH will sort that because I’m back to reality in the office today. Very wet weather. Lots off with Covid and boss had it over Christmas too – just crazy. I’ve bought in breakfast, lunch and snacks in a bid to be back on track food-wise. Only gained a couple of lb over the Christmas period which is great but I have to focus on DS1’s wedding in June and the dress shopping needed for that!
Hope your DMum is okay @RedRuby1231 – can you ask for Attendance Allowance to help pay for some cleaning/care?
Sending hugs to @silver-oldie for today xxx
How lovely of your neighbours @Gers and glad you’re feeling a bit better x
Hope today goes okay @Suffolksue x
Good luck for the results @nannywindow xx
Whoohoo 60 days @IzzyBee so exciting – we will countdown with you xx Sounds like an adventurous walk with the family!
Right my chilli con carne lunch leftovers is calling me.
Have a good day all and hugs to any poorlies in our little group.
Coxy xx
