@Suffolk_lass when I used to work for my uncle as a young teen, he was really tight with wages (child slave labour
) and I remember my other uncle saying, don't be so bl00dy tight give her a pony she's worked really hard. I remember thinking, oh no thank you, I don't want a pony, the last time I rode one it kicked me off
and then first uncle produced a £20 note to go with my fiver and I thought ohhh it's money, yeh I'll have that!! Never forget that lol, so I think it's £25 as well

@Watty1 the body keeps the score. At some level, it may be that now it's safe, the symptoms are coming out. Long deferred. You're doing brilliantly, as ever. Love Humdinger xx5

I think you are right @Humdinger1 A lot of past trauma surfacing now, and the kindness of VNM continues to astonish and inspire me in equal measures. He has looked after me, cooked for me, kept me company and reminded me this too will pass.
Side effects from meds passing as google assured me they would. I think I can do some work today which is needed, then check in with GP lunchtime (they booked me the in person appointment and texted it through - clearly the surgery not as bad as previously assumed).
After a chat with VNM we are not on economy food drive for the next few weeks. My plan had been to do that and continue to build the EF as my aim is to have enough to cover the bills for 3 months and to boost that by a January meals from cupboard only. He was of the opinion that he is happy to do the cooking but wants easy and not the "having to shop and plan" so for the next couple of weeks we are going to do meal boxes from companies. We have done this in the past during really busy times and they work well. His point was that it is easy, no thought required and ensures I eat at least one good meal 5 times a week with lots of veggies. This morning I have put the orders in and whilst I winced at the cost I can see his POV.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I'm so glad your nausea is abating and the GP is seeing you in person. It must be so hard to have to continue with the drug that makes you feel dire, but you are winning through.
I think people are very likely right about a 'pony' being £25.

Meal boxes sounds like just the right option for times like this. I know you’ve ordered already but if you’re a new customer from any of the companies it’s worth ordering a larger size box then you need and freeze the excess portions. Nice easy meals for later (if suitable for freezing obviously). Also maxes out the discount if the first box.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Google agrees, a pony is £25! A figure in need of an update I think! I have just paid vet bill for the asthma flare which was £214 and Most Handsome now lame. I've told him firmly to rest up but I suspect he now wants a vet fuss too!
@TallGirl good idea re meal boxes. When I feel a little brighter I will investigate some I have not used before and look for sign up codes.
Doctor visit ticked off, messaged counsellor to say snow forecast and I won't make the appointment if it snows so should we reschedule now as I want to avoid cancellation fees and she responded to say leave appointment as is and if it snows then she will not raise cancellation fee.
Tidied desk and returned a piece of costume jewellery yesterday and already had email to say refund will be made to account. I shouldn't really have bought it so that is a sum back to credit card but indulged desire to spend by buying a fab vest style jumper on vinted. New with tags and I sent a polite message saying I loved it but the same item was on the retailers site for a very similar price in their sale so I was going to put in a cheeky offer but would not be offended if she turned it down and seller accepted. (She had had it for sale for 8 months which is longer than I would have held out so I suspect we are both pleased with that). This doesn't count as a spend as the money was in my vinted from sales.
I sometimes feel this diary is a list of outgoings and hiccups on the route rather than frugal savings.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Woke feeling completely overwhelmed by life and work again. Sigh.
Spent £21.08 on panto tickets for next month, local village has a panto but they have really 'gone big time' and are using a booking service online with e tickets this year hence the odd sum (last year it was get locally from someone you know)
Cleaning Agency has messaged to say the cleaner they sent is no longer working for them and they do not have anyone else to cover so need to find someone else. To be honest I'm relieved not to have to have anyone in the house but I think that is more about my mental state than anything else. However I do recognise that having a messy house doesn't help either so I've messaged the agency and said I'd take on the cleaner they have let go privately if they want to send me her number.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

That's a tough start to the day, but we are near blue Monday, so perhaps that's part of it? We will soon feel the days getting longer and the return of daylight is a mood-lifter. You will be able to take the horses out and look for signs of spring rather than battling the cold and dark.
It's a good idea to have the cleaner in again if you like them, but it may be wise to have a discrete word with the agency as to why they've parted ways. Meanwhile your space is your own, (and I know it would stress me having someone in my home) so you can unwind a bit more.
I hope the day picks up for you.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

@Cherryfudge that is an excellent point and one I did not think about. Thank you.
Everything frozen here again. The prolonged ice and then LOTS of rain and then more freezing temperatures has created an ice rink on the field. I've never seen anything like it. Ecological survey should have happened yesterday as required for planning permission application but the chap cancelled due to the ice.
I'm going to try to go to counselling session today but not really feeling able to to be honest. I've paid for it and I keep telling myself if I just go once then maybe we can do some over zoom.
Most Handsome lame so now going to find somewhere to assess if this is getting worse or better. 8 days in and the new year is really seeming a struggle.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
