Still on hols but last day in the highlands before returning to my Mum's in the lowlands and I can't resist chipping in having caught up on 43 posts (!)
- Hair thinning is often caused by testosterone with different people having different predispositions and reactions to the hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone). As we reach or pass menopause the natural balance of oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone all change, so if you are genetically predisposed to hair loss, the change in levels can make hair thinning more likely as DHT shrinks hair follicles, leading to thinner, shorter hair and eventually hair loss. The extent of hair loss depends on a genetic sensitivity to DHT, not just the total amount of testosterone. In some cases, such as testosterone therapy, in women, it can even promote hair growth, highlighting how individual it can be. Lots of people swear by saw palmetto that is believed to block DHT. Blood tests can determine the amount of DHT in your blood but not your genetic predisposition to its' impact, which would need full genetic testing.
- Strong nails - @slinky avocado oil rubbed into the nailbed regularly, has helped mine. I have two nails that are damaged (one trodden on at infants school and one accidentally shut in the boot of my car - don't ask!) which both split vertically just off-centre and it definitely helps. I've bought a bottle from the supermarket and transferred some to a small bottle (the rest is a nice salad dressing!). My friend was advised to do this (she has thyroid issues) and it helped her too
- Planning permission ensured the value of our garden sale was increased - the previous owner had been declined in a pre-planning application and successfully appealed it (the planners made the garden an area of visual amenity) but the appeal wasn't upheld until three years after we bought the house. We got a set of plans through having approached a local architect to test with the planners before we spent the money. The person who built the two houses resubmitted plans that were for two slightly bigger houses, maintaining the style features like roof-line, render colour and proximity to the road

Interesting @Suffolk_lass (hope holiday is fun) Saw palmetto was one thing I have not tried in the journey to get to the point of giving up and just going for the additional hair to clip in, but I have tried a lot. Hair loss for women seems something that is just not really talked about. One private hormone doctor I saw said it was one of the hardest things to fix and often could not be despite her best efforts.
The planning permission all seems a bit unreal as whilst it remained on my vision board and I thought about it and I did the research I think it seemed an out there dream. As I look at the pictures on my wall I really do want to build it and live in the unit we designed. However the roads and lack of off road places to go and the approach of local farmers has slowly changed so much in the last 20 years that this is not my dream location anymore. Getting the permission will however increase the value of the land substantially.
I need to stick to the one step at a time approach to this. Next step is the letter, the one after than, appoint a professional to submit the application to the council. I need do no more than that.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Sunday evening. Have just been to the garage m&s and bought a ready made lasagne to shove in the oven. Have spent the weekend being exhausted. This cold has really knocked me out, if the ulcers in my mouth clear by morning I will feel I on the mend. (Ulcers, tongue, who ever heard of such a thing with a bug).
Have binge watched netflix and am planning an early night with more of the same.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Ulcers anywhere in my mouth are a standard sign of me being run down / my immune system struggling with something. Upping my vitamin C supplement for a few days often helps 😊
Hope you rest well tonight and feel brighter tomorrow.
Thanks for the avocado oil suggestion @Suffolk_lass, I’m off to try some! 😊
