Blackberries are ripe here but haven’t had chance to go on a good blackberrying walk as yet.

We actually had a couple of showers today, not heavy ones but if it softens the ground for more rain to come, that's got to be good.

I didn't get another listing done, but I've taken some photos in preparation. I got rather side tracked trying to work out stuff for the children's group - I'm hoping I can meet with the person who's going to be working alongside me and clarify things a bit. Meanwhile someone has asked me to teach them to use the app for rotas, so that's booked in for Monday, by which time perhaps the house will be tidier. It took a while to do the kitchen, and I threw out the pasta leftovers as I felt I'd left them out too long last night, so lunch was pesto pasta and a custard slice.

I've still not picked the blackberries up to date: I took a bag to a neighbour and picked well over a kilo more, but there are still oodles on the bushes. I'm considering blackberry gin - is that a thing?

I was only needed for two hours at work so I called in at the supermarket on the way back, which cost us about £14. I now have plenty of crackers, some cottage cheese, cheese spread and hummus as well as sachets of cappuccino. I've made 'frothed' coffee twice today so perhaps the coffee sachets won't be used for a while.

One other small purchase: a pack of face cloths off V1nted for about £4. Nice bright ones so I can find them easily!

I think blackberry gin is a thing. I think pretty much any fruit and any alcohol is a thing.

I might also suggest blackberry cordial and blackberry sauce for ice cream if you have enough for many options.

DD has a milk frother she makes fantastic cappuccinos, babyccinos and frothy hot chocolate. Last weekend she made cappuccinos for all of us on both Saturday and Sunday 😀

Yes blackberry gin can be made…I made some a few years ago and forgot about it in the cupboard so was pretty potent!
Blackberry curd is one of my favourite things to make at this time of year.

Blackberry gin is delicious! I think around here I might have missed the best of the blackberries. Out riding a few weeks ago a child was waving enthusiastically to me and Charming Cob so we stopped and the child showed me his blackberries and they were gorgeous. Really big. I reassured mum that CC was really very good and after pats CC was offered a blackberry which he also enjoyed but sadly his human was not offered a treat. I tried to pull up alongside a bush and pick my own but CC was on his homeward march and having had his own blackberries nicely offered by a child saw no point in waiting around for his human to faff

Our blackberry patch is ready more than a month early! I'vve picked 4 large bowlfuls to date, and see there are many more ready and even more that have gone over. Sadly because of the lack of rain, they are all fairly small thought sweeter than the past 4 years. I've got more than a kilo still left in the freezer from last year for crumble when we get into fall proper so the ones that are being picked are being enjoyed fresh!

Mine seems to be delayed this year but I have seen them in the sunnier patches round and about.
