The sister relationship is a complicated one.

it certainly is. My sister drank herself to death in her forties, and it was certainly a complicated relationship lifelong prior to that, and even now, many years later, I still struggle against the hack-job she did on my self-esteem…

My sister and I are the same - very different people ànd 15 years apart so in different stages of life. We love each other dearly but have very little in common so struggle to have conversation.

There is probably someone somewhere sympathising with my sister for her difficult sibling…
Thankyou for sharing, @WelshmansDaughter , @Laura_Elsewhere and @rtandon27 . It's salutary to realise how many variations there are on the sister to sister relationship.

And on a completely different subject, the irons have the makings of a saga.
Firstly, ours stopped working last night after a long spell of being temperamental. Then today, I went to look out the travel iron, only to find it was a travel kettle. It's possible the travel iron didn't really work and was discarded long ago.
Then I remembered DS2 had an iron that he'd rescued from the estate of one of his grand parents, and it might just still be in a cupboard in his old room. That's where I found it, alongside a butterfly that had wedged itself into said cupboard so I had to move things carefully to let it out. It flew off without incident and I pulled out the iron.
This iron was smaller and lighter than ours, and the white on the plastic had yellowed with age, but it came on when plugged in and I got my shirt and a couple of other things sorted out before realising the heat had drained out of the iron. Still plugged in, but cool enough to touch. I unplugged it and checked the fuse box, and sure enough, the fuse was blown so that was two irons in two days.
This from the household that's just ordered two more irons…
When DH got home he put two and two together and tried both the broken irons in another socket, and both are working fine. It was the tower adaptor, with the internet as well as an iron plugged in, that had blown the fuse.
It's a bit late to cancel the orders, and I could do with a reliable iron, but having four is ridiculous! Having broken the news of his iron's demise to DS2, I've now to un-break it and perhaps he will take that one as a spare. Or perhaps not, as he'd completely forgotten it.

I had replies to my emails about chimney sweeping and carpet shampooing, so that's good. I will arrange the chimney to be done first, for obvious reasons.
I also realised that a message about the children's group will be unanswered for at least ten days, as the people have just gone on holiday.
Having gone back on what used to be the F1tbit app (now G00gle Health) I found a message that my body is under stress, which is exactly how I've felt, but can't work it out. I assumed it was a mixture of pushing myself psychologically to make things happen when my default is to let them lie, and late nights. Also coffee. I must have been in this position a thousand times in the past, so why am I feeling it to this extent, now? Whatever the reason, a better night's sleep will help so I will make myself some overnight oats for tomorrow then get to bed.

Good point about Pr!me thanks @peb .
And as to the ironing, guess what? None done in the past 24 hours despite us now having three working irons!
A long day. Childcare was fine but DGD2 has a horrendous sore throat, so as well as being concerned for her, I'm concerned it may spread to me. DH rarely gets things like that but three of us (DGD2, DD and I) are susceptible.
Tuna pasta for tea and about £15 spent in Sainsbugs.
I contacted my friends about meeting this evening and found the one who was due home from hospital on Sunday was only let out today, so of course we didn't meet. I have a card to drop off for her.
The evening has been spent rehashing the job application which is now sent off. I didn't make any substantial changes to the original but I've added a lot. I wonder if they will spot that I don't have the 'required' level 2 Maths? I do have a long list of relevant courses, but not that. Still, I got the job last time around and I didn't have it then, either.
