Guess what? All those jobs didn't get done. Only the Wednesday job part of things was completed before I went out. However, the weather dried up enough for the men to finish the job and we've paid the balance. They were lovely to work with and I'll make sure people know who they are (already someone has contacted them on my recommendation).

We had a nice day looking after the girls as usual, and DH took an hour out to go to the dentist. He's really pleased with the work so another expensive but satisfactory result.

This evening I did the ironing and finished off a couple of texted conversations about a couple of teams I'm on, resulting in me making a cleaning list for over the summer for the room we use on Sunday mornings. I won't attempt to do it all myself: one person has volunteered a regular clean which is fantastic, and I'm sure some of the team will take a few bits and bobs home to wash.

I've also paid out of savings into current so I can pay off the CC tomorrow.

    Expenditure:
    Garden £1.545
    Medical ?
    Housekeeping £5.55

Just caught up.   An email "disaster" prior to PPH meant that I lost all my old personal emails and it was most freeing.    I've recently started to delete/unsubscribe daily.  I think if someone really wanted something from the past they would make an effort again

Loved the paths update.  Am looking forwards to my garden being sorted out and new paths too!

I think there would be little I'd miss if all my old emails disappeared! Maybe a few I'd keep, but most of those are in folders anyway.

I had my GP appointment this morning and it's still uncertain what's causing the persistent symptoms, though in general I feel well. She thinks some could be post-viral or it could be complications from reflux, or then again, it could be a reaction to the change of medication. She worked out a way of trialling these separately over the next month, which I've written down and need to get my head round, and it all makes sense apart from not tackling the breathless episodes at once. (I worry as that's a possible side-effect of the new medication, but on the other hand the old one wasn't strong enough).

I'll give it a go and see if we're on the right track.

I admit to a wander round the shops and market on the way back and I've bought some wonderful-smelling strawberries and a couple of punnets of blueberries off the market, among other things. My cappuccinos still aren't in the supermarket and now the tinned marmalade mix isn't either. I might be able to get some tomorrow when I'm at the other end of town.

Back at home, I've had tuna and avocado for lunch - freebie avocado from L1dl's spin thing on their app, and freebie blueberries at the same time so I may have to freeze some. Then I noticed the spin thing is still working, and this time I got a voucher for free apples or pears. I love all the fruits available at this time of year: even better when some are free.

I've washed our bedding and intended to make a start on putting the garden to fights but I felt cold and tired and it's not happened. However, I've paid off the CC, so avoided fees. Last month they charged me 23p, possibly from one of those times when I've paid the account up to date then put another payment on the card just before they check to see what's outstanding.

I spent the afternoon being cold and tired, I don't know why. It's been windy and only about 15 degrees and I really hadn't the energy to tackle the garden. In the end I gave myself a 20-minute nap before work.

I'd not planned a dinner so I called in at the shop on the way home and got another brand of cappuccino plus some chickpeas, mayo, chorizo and a marked-down coriander plant. £7.31. My dinner was then sweet potato with Coronation chickpeas.

I've had a bath and we've put the clean bedding on the bed and I shall go to sleep as soon as possible.

I think so thanks! Certainly will have done more good than harm. I don't know why I was so tired yesterday, but we'll see how today goes.

It's raining, but not hard. I'm going to help with the toddler group this morning. I enjoy this but it's next on the list of possible things to drop. Perhaps a solution is to ask not to do it so often? I'm only on the rota every week because I said I could! The end of next week will be lots of babysitting, so perhaps I need to pull out of that one for a start.

If I have energy and it stops raining, I might start stacking the breeze blocks to raise the water barrel that was moved while the back paving was made. That has to be right as it's so heavy and I don't want to have to move it again. However, while it was being emptied, it began to leak, possibly if there was silt that moved, or possibly a crack was being pressured shut by the weight of water. So I'm not sure how it will go.

It's been a  productive day. The energy that mysteriously vanished yesterday has showed up again.

In the morning I helped at the toddler club but there were quite a few helpers so I wasn't really needed and I've told them I'll reduce it to once a month and see how that goes.

On the way home I bought a dustsheet for when the Sunday morning group does messy play. I was reminded when I saw how far the water was going from the activity this morning! I bought a few groceries including the marmalade-making stuff, and this afternoon I made marmalade and soup, so I went off to work with a filling meal which I'm sure made a massive difference. Before the cooking, though, I got myself outside and stacked up some breeze blocks and salvaged heating bricks from our old storage heaters to make a stand for the rain water barrel, then I moved the log store back into place (it's a small one). I'm quite pleased with the results. I went on to spend about half an hour on the weeding: every time I think I've made progress on the ground elder roots, I discover further clusters! I'm quite pleased to see the progress with the soil, though it's just a small area even now.

Work was three hours: I was doing an old building that's arranged round a sort of courtyard that's now a car park. A colleague had told me the other day that he'd discovered a third staircase in that building. Well, today I found a fourth! How can there be entire sections of a building still to be discovered? But there are: the fourth stairs led to some empty offices and a 6th loo and access was via what I assumed for a long time to be a door to the outside but which actually goes past a (rather random) big old fireplace in a small room, then more offices, all empty.

I won't total up today's spending yet: it wasn't much and I need sleep.
