5G Data Speeds across networks?

Hi all,

I'm currently with EE on a 5G plan paying £12.49 a month which includes 17GB data at their 'best speeds' (custom deal).
They offer plans with different speeds from 10mbps, through 100mbps up to 'best speed/unlimited' with prices varying quite a bit.
I know there are unlimited/high data plans on other networks such as IDMobile etc. which are cheaper but is there anything in it with the speeds offered by EE as I've not used the other networks before and considered a 2nd SIM or eSIM with another provider if I was to stick with EE just for extra data?
EE are offering 35GB at 100mbps for £15 now which is more competitive but is 100mbps compared to 'best speeds' going to be much different?

Many thanks

Where I am, I can get about 500Mbps on EE 5G. But I don't need that so changed to the essentials plan which is limited to 100Mbps.

O2 and Three haven't rolled out their 5G networks here but on Vodafone my work mobile gets about 60 Mbps.

Take a look at 1pMobile and this review of them on SIM Sherpa

It depends where you are. 3 has the fastest 5G due to the way frequencies were allocated. Try others who piggyback on 3 such as Honest Mobile where your bill is reduced every month.

I agree with the Murmansk post , I’m with 1pMobile which uses the EE network. 25GB / £10 a month tariff, speeds vary depending where I am but in good areas of reception on 5g I’m getting speeds of over 100Mbs.

If you're asking how likely is it that you'll get more than 100Mbps download on 5G on any network, I'd say the answer is very likely - depending on (a) where you are, and (b) how well, or otherwise, the networks have rolled out 5G in your area.

Just for example; here O2, Three and EE have all rolled out 5G to varying degrees, while Vodafone have done SFA. EE's 5G (to date) is all 700MHz so isn't any faster than 4G, O2 5G tops out about 120Mbps in town (180Mbps or so out of it) and Three 5G tops out at about 700Mbps plus change so, yeah, basically.

On the other hand, if you're asking about pricing, then, if you're happy with EE coverage, 1p Mobile is an obvious choice - 25GB for £10 a month or 50GB for £15 a month, all uncapped/full speed data.

Excellent, thanks all. I didn't consider 1p mobile before, also Three have put in a 5G tower very close to me...

    1p Mobile

    Three (ID Mobile)

Though I would add, EE has quite a bit more 5G across the country.

Excellent, thanks for that. I tend to use data a lot for video streaming in my lunch break at work but it's quite a remote area so only got about 65mbps on EE with speedtest.net
