Morning All
Sorry been MI A but have been reading along.
Family all went home on Wednesday when I started to feel absolutely shattered. Have spent past few days not doing much... read eat, sleep, repeat.
Friend who was due to arrive yesterday now arriving today which like many of you will be a snacky day. Tomorrow we have Roast chicken.
As others have said Thank you Taff for the lovely Carol's and especially for today's.
2023 will be a year with various good and bad memories for us, but the main is moving to our forever 🏡 and we hope to make new friends and memories next year.
Everyone on here is like a trusted friend with whom we share the good and bad and I want to thank you all for the laughs, the new ideas and also being there during the harsh times or the not so good days xx
Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year 2024.
Sending hugs to all who want them

Morning all. Thanks Taff for the carols/songs, some good 'uns in there. You look to have done a lot this year, may next year be the same but with relaxing times too!TA I did exactly the same with a hair colour yesterday, I'd thought about stopping colouring but thought I might as well use the one I had
Just need it cutting now, I had to put off my last cut due to lurgy.
Speaking of lurgy, DH thinks he may be starting with a cold@weenancyinAmerica , I never thought about them moving the returned books again to their permanent home! Good idea, I'll save them the trouble & renew online and leave it until the refurbished library is open again to returnI've got a joint of beef out for tea, hope it's ok - I never seem to get it right. I prefer it slow cooked but the others don't!I hope the New Year brings better times for us all, especially those who have had a hard year due to losing loved ones, or illness. Thank you for wise words, advice, sharing, virtual friendship and much more. All the best for 2024 xxx

Last day with family, going home tomorrow. We’re going out for a nice walk. I’ve been invited to an old friend’s tonight. It’ll be nice to see her and her family but not sure how late I’ll stay.0 bonus saver

Good morning allEveryone has made some lovely comments re this group and I 100% agree with everyone of them. A lovely group of people who brighten up your day if you feel down, gives great advice and support when needed and encourages you to have a carol service for 12 days over Christmas
Long may it continue into 2024.
Am looking forward and am also feeling a bit nervy about my impending retirement next year so am looking around for either a group or doing some volunteering when the time arrives. I've lots of workmates but not many friends outside work so it will feel a bit weird at first. Mind you I've been volunteered to be DS's cleaner and my other DS has already suggested a few dates for dog sitting duties so not all boring days ahead.Wishing all of you a very happy 2024 and as the song goes, things can only get better xx15 -
Morning all
Pourimg with rain here and feels quite cold, will put the heating on for an hour to warm the place up. WM is on and doing its thing there is another load to go in after, I don’t do washing on New Year’s Day as Jackie O always said you are washing away all your luck for the year, we have had a terrible couple of years so I need all the help I can get !
Yesterday I sorted my sock and knicker drawer and got rid of a load of old ones, I had to order some new undies from M&S to replace them, I also sorted the bedside cabinets which are much tidier now, I also ordered a keepsake box for all the things dd has made me over the years and all the cards she has given me, I’ve kept them all but they were just in the bedside cabinet so they can all be kept safe now, I managed to do half of the wardrobe so the other half will have to be done another day.
I am going to take the decorations down today and put the house back to normal, I also want to go and see mum as she had news yesterday that an old friend had passed away and was very down.
DD Is off out for the night so just OH and I here with the dogs, I shall give them some calming treats for the fireworks that are bound to happen.
I love being part of this little online community, thank you for being my friends and supporting one another xxx
Have good days all and take care xx13 -
Morning all DS dropped at work and now its absolutely hammering down again all the local roads are full of pools of water and broken tree bits . We have friends coming for dinner tonight and tomorrow will be spent going to the tip with garage rubbish to make room for DS new bike . I also need to go through our bills as we need to cut back as 2 big holidays coming up .
I would also like to thank everyone for their friendship over the past year I feel lucky to be part of our community
Have a wonderful evening whatever you are up to and I hope that 2024 brings us all health wealth and happiness xxSlava Ukraini14 -
Good morning everyone. Thank you Taff for the carols and songs, they seem to brighten the day. I have not been posting for long but have read along for quite a long time and know how supportive this group can be. It is good to know that you can get some encouragement if you're feeling low or you can smile at some of the funny little stories people tell. I wish you all a safe and happy New Year and for those who are struggling I hope that comfort will come your way.
Take care xx15 -
Thank you to everyone for your posts this year. This group gives me perspective and for that I’m very grateful. Wishing you all a happy 2024.14

Here's the best version (in my opinion) of Auld Lang Syne, despite the rubbish visuals, it's fairly old. I just wrote and lost a long post by reaching for a hankie, I may come back!

Gers, my apologies to you and the Scottish contigent, here's a Scots version, not the englishified one。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。*∞*⍋⋆*❅。Should auld acquaintance be forgot,And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?
(Chorus)
For auld lang syne, my jo,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp!
And surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
We twa hae run about the braes
And pu’d the gowans fine;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary foot
Sin auld lang syne.
We twa hae paidl’d i’ the burn,
Frae mornin’ sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
Sin auld lang syne.
And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere!
And gie’s a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll tak a right guid willy waught,
For auld lang syne.
