And I give you the very last carol/song of the year..no prizes for guessing

。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。*∞*⍋⋆*❅。
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And the days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll drink a cup of kindness yet
For the sake of auld lang syne
And surely you will buy your cup
And surely I'll buy mine!
We'll take a cup of kindness yet
For the sake of auld lang syne

So that's a wrap for 2023, it was a bit up and down personally, but I did shift my harris in gear and instigate new windows, porch and front door, new blinds, new radiators and got the tree chopped down that was the bane of our gardening and sunshine lives for 8 years..drove to Italy and back with my sister, got my medication mostly sorted, did a lot of decluttering, a lot of gardening, grew a tree [ very proud of that, a now 2" cypress from a seed from the one in the front garden] , grew flowers from seed [ first time in 15 years of gardening] went to several comedy shows, went to various historical places, lots of garden centres, learned new crochet skillz....
Next year I'm hoping to do more travelling, a weekend here or there and probably by myself, more decluttering but this time, I'll be selling things instead of just chucking if I can, one goal is to make as much money on the side as possible from selling my old tat. Also another goal is to not buy so much, I'm easily seduced by advertising if it involves kitchen stuff or stompy boots. More crochet to bust stash, more sewing, ditto, fix the electrics on a featherweight sewing machine if I can, design and build Goth Box 2 point 0, and maybe a rocket stove too. And more DIY.
Thank you all for being there this year, for sharing the good and bad and sad and occasionally mad, fingers crossed for unicorns and daisies next year for you all...I hope you can find something to look back on with pleasure or achievement or anything like that from the previous year and I'm looking forward to doing all this again next year with you lovely lot

Morning All
Thanks for the start taff and for all your tunes, much appreciated. You've certainly achieved a lot this year!
The snow has all gone and it seems quite calm outside. The mountain of washing is nearly done, bedding and towels from guests left me with so much extra laundry but it was worth it. All the Christmas decorations are now packed away for another year and the tree is outside the back door, I should be able to cut it down today and get most of it in the brown bin.
DS2 and DP made it safely to Cumbria with a stop at Hadrian's Wall along the way, I must admit I was half expecting them to come back as the snow was really heavy when they left.
Lots of leftovers still to use up, DS2 did some cooking before they left and made me a cheese and onion tart that looks very good, I'll have a slice for my lunch today. Must make some soup before the carrots get too bendy.
Thanks for your company again this year chums, we've had ups and downs but your help and support has once again been fantastic.
Happy New Year!
Take care. XX

Yesterday was a strange day. Firstly, dry dark and cold until the very second I stepped outside when the sleet started. It's almost like it waited for me 😀. I did my shopping in quick time, couldn't get my recycling in the big dumpsters as they were all full and was home in under an hour. As I took off my coat the sleet stopped. For a wee while everything looked dusted but the rain soon washed it all away.
Unfortunately most other places were hit by heavy snow which brought chaos to many roads. I had to laugh at me being the weatherman of Scotland, lovely thought. It hardly ever properly snows here even if the town eight miles away has a thick layer. Being right on the west coast we get all the storms, high winds and gallons of rain going. When I lived in Newcastle it was much colder, drier and snowy.Last night I took a warm shower before bed and slept right through without waking. This morning the 'decoking' was much easier and quicker so perhaps I'm on the real mend. I have no plans for the day apart from getting better. I'll probably send out a few emails and hope that I can stay awake for the Bells. No traditional steak pie here though I will toast 2024 with a wee dram or two for auld lang syne. Thanks to all for being around, sharing your ups and downs and generally being great virtual friends. Ours is a strange and lovely world.Happy Hogmanay and 'orra best' to all.13 -
It’s actually dry out - that’s a miracle in itself!Poor night’s sleep so it’ll likely be another slow day with some more tidying and crafting.Next door neighbours popping by for a much delayed Christmas drink due to lurgies!
If I manage to stay awake the big house on the hill nearby usually have a good firework display and I’m lucky that Barney-dog likes to watch them and isn’t scared (my precious dogs have all been terrified so I know the issues).Happy New Year /Happy Hogmanay to one and all

Morning everyone
At last I've caught up with all the posts. I've got washing to put out this morning - it's meant to be sunny ALL DAY! It will make a change from all the wind and rain we've been having. Mam wants to go to church this morning so I'm going down to sit with dad, then I need to go to M and S for some nice bread to go with a picky tea tonight. Little one will be here too, it's her favourite meal! She'll stay tonight, DD isn't going out but is having a friend round and a morning off waking up early.
Little one is so excited she'll be 5 on Wednesday - she's telling everyone that it's her birthday 'on the first Wednesday'...she's having a party at home with the 4 little girls in her class, 'no boys they'll just be silly!' It's to be a unicorn party and she has a special unicorn dress to wear. Fingers crossed - she spent both her 2nd and 3rd birthdays in hospital - though to be fair she had a great time and was spoilt rotten by the nurses.
I'd better get moving so I'll wish you all a happy new year.
My thanks too to everyone for listening and supporting, I feel like we're all friends although we'll probably never meet x15 -
Thank you for the start and tunes Taff.
Awake at 2am the noise of the storm was terrible, I've had a quick check and everything seems okay, just a few plant pots over.
I won't be sorry to say goodbye to this year but I find the thought of 2024 daunting.
Thank you all for your support
Happy New Year

Morning everyone thanks for the start Taff you have achieved a lot this year I don’t seem to have done anything although I did plenty of running up and downstairs when hubby had his new knees so that’s where my year went but lots to look forward to soon be finished work and I intend to be out and about when I do finish I will definitely be going to visit my friends in Cyprus I’ve got a couple of trips to Northumberland planned and I will have my bus pass YEAH so I will be tickling off somewhere most weeks. Not doing anything tonight as much as I love fireworks I’m praying for torrential rain I’ve got two of my friends dog’s overnight and my dog who are all terrified I’m in for a great night but at least they don’t last to long . Dp1 that sounds like the best party how exciting for little one Gers stay safe and warm and enjoy your wee dram Silver Oldie I’m sure you will be pleased to see the back of this year but next year is a fresh new start big breath’s and take things at your own pace and do what makes you happy. It just goes to say there are some lovely people on here who have listened to me moaning and waffling on and giving me support when I’ve needed it and a few good laughs so I wish you all a happy and healthy new year14

Morning all, it's very dark here and you need the light on to do anything. It's also colder, only 7 degrees.
I slept well last night with no coughing and I just have a blocked nose now. I rang Dad yesterday and he has the lurgy too so New Years lunch has been cancelled for now, thinking back he said he wasn't feeling great on Boxing Day so he may be the spreader 🤔. Thankfully DD and DGS didn't get it over xmas as they all fly to NY tomorrow so will be dropping off the hamsters today for playtime with nanny 😂
A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone for their companionship and friendship over the past year, your love and strength has helped me get though some tough times. My hope for next year is to sort out my health, it's been one thing after another in 2023.
dp1 I can't believe your DGD is 5 this week, boy time has flown. Hope she has a wonderful party.
taff thankyou for your time and effort in doing the xmas songs and carols, it very is much appreciated. You have given me a laugh on more than one occasion with your witty remarks, so thank you for that too.
I want to wish you all a Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year 2024 to all my virtual friends. 🧡
Take care all

Morning folks and thanks for the very early kick off TAFF. I'm late to the party today but sadly not due to sleeping in. I've forgotten what those mornings are like! I was up and at 'em early doors and finally got round to addressing my white roots whilst all was quiet and the blinds/curtains shut to hide behind with the colour on my hair. The box has been there waiting since before Christmas and even though it was there in front of me I just cba.
I'll be glad to see the back of this year too. It's been a very emotional one, starting with the loss of my BFF. We were friends for 70 years after meeting on our first day at junior school and it's been like losing my right arm. Then I lost my lovely little companion, the Sparkly cat, and finally my "little" DB just before Christmas. So a sad few months.
Have a wonderful, safe and peaceful New Year folks and thanks everybody for listening to my worries and woes over recent years and never once telling me to shut up!! Take care all and enjoy your NYE whatever you are planning xxx

Good morning everyone
Thanks for last song of the year taff. I've only ever known the first line until I read that!
Grey ,drizzly day here.
Been catching up on ironing, doing some maintenance ( eg swapping a lamp shade putting new batteries in a few things ) that sort of irritating little job that gets missed.
Like silver oldie and others will glad to see the back of this year.
My late mum , when the grandchildren were small had a theory that they seemed to follow a period of being grizzly and out of sorts ,with a new milestone ( standing, walking, new tooth, new words) I don't know how right she was but that's how I feel.
I had started to feel quite low and to feel my confidence ebbing away. I suspected but did not want to believe, that someone close to me for many years, does not wish me well.
Yesterday I found out that I was right and was very upset and felt as if the ground had been taken from beneath my feet!
Today however ,I feel determined not to let it get me down. Just want to move on and be happy! Perhaps I'll also grow a new tooth.
Happy new year to all ,or at least a peaceful ,contented one .
