Worlds_Worst_Superhero said:I've just had a message from Asda to remind me that I have money left in my "Cashpot" and that if I don't use it before the end of January, I'll lose it.
I very rarely shop at Asda, only if I'm away for the weekend and there is nowhere else.
Giddy with the anticipation of my new-found wealth, I decided to check.
£1! 🤣
I don't know whether to laugh or cry!
I can't decide whether to go mad and blow it all at once on one tin of soup, or not to let it all go to my head, be sensible and buy 3 tins of chopped tomatoes. 😆
Decisions....decisions...
Ladywithaplan I use the Snoop app to track spending, which I like, but what really helps me is a page in my journal where I physically list my non-essential spends.
I am full of cold and haven't left our little village for 3 days so not spending was easy. In fact it's going to be a low spend week all round which is good because we have a loose tile on the roof so need funds to get that sorted.3 -
I use a notebook that I carry with me, I put receipts in there if I don’t have time to fill it in straightaway. I find it comes in handy and it helped me to stop shopping. I allocate myself £20 for the week, in cash, to use for lunch or if I need something whilst out and about. I budget to take £20 for each week in that month. If I don’t use it I transfer it’s equivalent the following month into savings.5

Their own brand paracetamol is 49p or 44p with your card (as you get 10% off most Boots brand products). Using the 15p takes it down to 29p which I believe is cheaper than anywhere else.3 -
Working from home today so decided to paint my nails.
Opened the box of nail varnishes I'd organised back in October and was delighted to discover a couple of bottles of perfume I'd forgotten I'd put in there.
I remember decanting some into small atomisers for my holiday but had completely forgotten about the big bottles.
I used the last of the perfume in the atomisers last week and felt a bit down that I wouldn't be buying any more, so finding this hidden stache feels great!7 -
I don't know if it counts as a No Spend Day or not.
Yesterday (Friday) I went into a charity shop to drop off some books.
Had a browse, with no intention of actually buying anything, and saw a board game that I knew my daughter would be interested in.
She and her university housemates are really into Games Nights, everything from Scrabble to some really complicated strategy games that go on for days.
I know that some of these games can cost over £100, so when I found one for £4, in near mint condition, I was very excited.
I sent her a message and pictures of the game, and she replied with a "Hell yes! Get it and I'll transfer the money now"
Checked online and this particular one is usually about £70.
So I ended up buying the game, but she paid for it.
I'll give it to her when we visit in a couple of weeks.

Have the house to myself today, so going to use all the veg peel and trimmings I've been saving in the freezer to make some soup for next week's lunches, bake some banana cake and listen to an audiobook I've borrowed from my library's Libby app.
My Saturdays used to involve trips into the town centre to walk around the shops, going for coffee or lunch with friends, maybe the cinema or pub.
It was quite easy to kiss goodbye to about £100, yet have little or nothing to show for it.
This No Spend Challenge is really making me consider not only how I spend my money, but how I spend my time.
I've been thinking about all the time and money I used to waste trawling around the shops, buying items didn't really want or need, consuming over-priced convenience food and drink on the go that I didn't really need, and didn't really enjoy.
Not shopping has forced me to consider how I spend my leisure time, particularly with friends.
Everything seems to cost money- even hiring a court to play Badminton cost £7.5 -
I just want to celebrate NOT buying a bargain second hand drum kit this weekend. Not a priority, nowhere to put it. But it was very, very tempting.Keep reading books!
July grocery challenge START: £150.
total SPENT £127.53, REMAINING £22.37.6 -
I did buy a £2.50 cape from the Charity Shop but I love it so much I consider it £2.50 well spent.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -

You have to have enough points to pay for an item, you can't use as a part payment and of course nothing in the shop for 15 pence!!
That's probably why I tend to shop at Superdrug where you can use your points (in multiples of £) as a part payymentBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
