@FreetodoasIlike, thanks for the good wishes on my health MOT. Just managed to nab a massage cancellation appointment for tomorrow, so that is good, otherwise it meant waiting another 5 weeks. Yes, broken wrists cause a lot pf problems, mine was also my dominant hand.
Have to say I agree with your OH, get out there and walk. The forums and internet will be there for when you are unable to get out and exercise. Just do it, once you start you will reap the benefits. I am 66 and have been doing more and more exercise as I've got older. Never be too busy to exercise. Getting older is a privilege denied to many and we need to think about the how many healthy years we can manage to accumulate. There is a wonderful group I belong to on FB with lots of exercises for us oldies. Not sure I'm allowed to put a link on the forums, but can PM you if you are interested.Making the debt go down and savings go up

@Makingabobor2 Your comments about exercise are SO true. It’s good to hear that as you’ve got older you are exercising more. I really need to up my game and just DO it. It will become a habit and I will reap the benefits and hopefully enjoy doing it. Thank you for offering to PM the FB link, that would be most helpful.
I really felt like an “old” lady yesterday when I struggled to get into the disabled taxi. I know my mum IS old at 102, but at 34 years younger, I really should be much fitter than I am. I had a very full on working life until I retired at 66. I was up at 6.00 a.m, was at my desk by 8.00 a.m. and walked most lunchtimes. I even joined a gym and could do nearly an hour on the cross trainer - not now, of course. I’ve no interest in going back to the gym, but as well as walking, I would like to start with some gentle stretch exercises. I also need to improve my upper body strength as I can’t get myself off the floor unless I lean heavily on the sofa or bed. I’m also sure that walking in the fresh air will improve my mental health. I am very much a couch potato since I retired and spend far too much time on my iPad. The link you suggested would be very useful - thank you.3 -
PS - I’ve also put on over a stone since I finished work, so need to get that off too and fit into the clothes I already have.3

Hello lovely ladies.Lots of interesting chat ......
I agree good health is so important, especially if we want to live long and independent lives. I want to live to be 100 but only if I am fit and healthy.....hence my reducing sugar (to control my blood sugar levels) and reducing caffeine, getting my teeth fixed etc. Having good strong teeth and healthy gums isnt just about vanity but poor dental health can lead to all sorts of health problems, including heart disease.Someone mentioned the comedian George Burns the other day. He lived to a ripe old age and I always used to love one of his jokes about aging. He used to say "If I had known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of my body". Wise words. As this is a money saving site I will add to that. ......."Health is Wealth". Getting sick costs money......a lot of it. Extra expenses, lost income, it all adds up. My husbands illness nearly bankrupted us.I had a shock this week. My lovely hairdresser has died. I knew him for over 45 years and whilst I wasn't always a faithful client because there were times when I just couldn't afford him I always went back to him.He never held my absences against me, he knew his fees were high and he was very understanding when I strayed.Chiro yesterday. I have booked a batch of 6 treatments because I really need straightening out again, the orangutang walk isn't a good look. 😂🤣.As for weight..........I am now ready to get started. I have been steadily improving my food choices in readiness but it's time now to start a proper weight loss regime. I've ordered an air fryer so I can reduce the amount of oil and butter I cook with. It should arrive tomorrow. So it will be back to full paleo, slashing dairy and green carbs only, no alcohol.. I need to lose at least two stones. I too don't want to have to replace my wardrobe, I have some lovely clothes that I can't fit into.So......Teeth done, check. Caffeine done, check. Sugar done, check. Now time to shift the lard. 😱😂Ps. I think it's was Free who mentioned silk shirts. May I ask where you got them from. I have been looking at Lilysilk but not sure. I hate buying clothes online......I much prefer to buy clothes from a real life shop or market.Right better get cracking. Did a big shop earlier and I now need to run round with the hoover.4 -
@Makingabobor2 - you are so right about people not living to enjoy their old age - I was saddened to hear the news about Steve Wright the other day - I used to listen to his show every day on Radio 2 when I was working in an office. I would be most grateful if you could pm me the link to the FB group too.
My good intentions with regard to moving more still haven’t come to fruition yet this year - I have bursts of energy but some days I just can’t be a***d 😱. Like you say @helensbiggestfan it is a bit of a vicious circle - if I exercised a bit more I would feel more energetic
My fabbing for tomorrow will be an opticians appointment - could be a bit on the expensive side as I think I might need an update on my prescription. I had laser surgery on my eyes over 20 years ago and, until recently, had no need for glasses but in the last year or so I am struggling with reading which is just due to getting older which the laser surgery has no effect on.
i have been trying to cut back on ulta-processed foods (not that I ate a huge amount of them) due to the bad press they have been getting and I do feel a bit less lethargic - hopefully it will improve the longer I stay off them.2 -
I love my air fryer, I really wouldn't be without it. It is money saving as well, a month after I bought mine you could see how my electric meter reading had slowed down.3

@helensbiggestfan - I have been trying to build up a collection of silk shirts for a while now, rather than just buy randomly polyester shirts/tops that I fancy on a whim. I have bought quite a few over the years from Lilysilk, but only sleeveless tank tops and sleeveless tops with collars. It is the chartreuse silk ones, and I have several in different colours, black, navy and cream and a pink one, including the cream one with a collar posted (I also have the navy). I team the cream one with a pure silk Oscar de la Renta scarf (pictured) that I bought over 20 years ago in TKMax. I team the navy one with a few silk scarves, again bought from TKMax over the years. I also have two Valentino scarves bought, again at TKMax over 20 years ago. They were going for an astronomical price on the Bay of E - don’t think they will reach the asking price though. I wear these sleeveless silk tanks tops/collar tops and layer them under jackets or waterfall cardigans and it’s SO easy. For a casual look, I just stick on my boot cut jeans, or for a much smarter look, my black wide leg trousers. I also team with chunky silver jewellery/costume jewellery, as well as pure gold. I wouldn’t buy a long sleeve blouse from Lilysilk, as my arms are too short. I do, however, have a black sleeve cap sleeve top, also, from Lilysilk. I wash them separately on a low wash and they’ve always turned out fine. The rest of my silk blouses (only four) came from a dress agency. Again, these are three-quarter length sleeve, as, due to my short arms, I would have to pay to get these altered if I bought full sleeve. The dress agency (which I’ve sold to in the past) got to know me, and my liking for silk tops, and emailed me if they got anything in. They knew that I was after a three-quarter length blouse, and I got my lovely leopard skin silk blouse from them a few years ago. So my advice Helen if you WERE to shop at Lilysilks, I would first just buy the basic tank top to layer. If you like it, then buy more. I hope your arms are of regular length, alas mine are too short, if they were regulator length, I would invest in a black !!!!!! cat bow full length sleeve blouse from them. By the way, the sizes are quite small, but their customer service is good. I sent back a three-quarter length top as didn’t like it, and got a refund within three days from their agent in the UK (I believe they are based in China - hence the smaller sizes).
Again, alas, my dress agency closed and it’s now a hairdresser’s, so my link has gone. I would still look at Charity shops as I’m sure you’ll find better quality vintage. Sorry about the loss of your hairdresser and the others mentioning Steve Wright. We just don’t know when it’s our time to go, do we?
@thepurplepixie. I love my air fryer too!
PS - in the pic it looks gold, but the top is very much cream. I have the same one in navy.

Should say “!!!!!! cat” bow blouse, not sure why there were so many exclamation marks.2

Ooops!! I think the forum people thought I was using a swear word. It’s the type of blouse that you tie around your neck in a bow.

Lol. I don't think it's the forum people, I think it's just done automatically. It happens on other social media sites as well. I've seen people change the word to kitten to circumnavigate the issue. 😂
Any way thanks for the info about Lilysik. I think I'll try a cream tank top first and see how I go.Dentist today for a final scan and a scale and polish. Should get the final crowns done on 4th March, assuming they are back from the lab. She double checked the implant that has not quite fully integrated yet and is hopeful that it will be ok in a couple of months. If not then a bone graft would be necessary. 🤞.3
