I really did give my head a good shake after looking at my spends. This week, I have only had 1 spend day, that was on Tuesday. I popped to Tco, spent £7.39. This included: Lime juice- just grabbed it from the shelf, no lemon left  butter and a baby outfit on sale (DH works at this store so we get extra discount on top of clubcard, nice!). The outfit was reduced to £7, so with the discount I got the other 2 items for only 39p more!

Keep it up me! Good work

Have been thinking about any items that I may actually need, I do need a new sports bra, I live in these and my two are quite old and looking a bit worn these days. I need another two work tops, then I should be sorted for quite some time. I have a pair of trainers to try on, and if these fit may buy another pair. I live in trainers and have dodgy feet- always seem to get blisters. And this brand and type of trainer has been great, the previous pair, that I am wearing into the ground at the moment, were wide fit and are no longer available, so I bought normal width in the hope they will still be amazingly comfy (£33 as well!).

House account paid for dog drugs yesterday- £35, this is an anti-inflammatory medication for the two older dogs, and should last two months (this is the cheapest version, but has gone up from £28). We also get them both Tramadol, but the prescriptions are all out of sync which is annoying, also makes it hard to budget as I am not sure how much or how often we end up buying them. We also get a cheaper friend of Yumve for all three dogs on a subscription, £30 lasts around 4 months. Middle dog also has Diabetes insipidus, we pay about £100 for 6 months, this is from a human chemist, so much cheaper!

Youngest dog was spayed on Valentines, she has done really well since and the wound is looking so healthy. As she is a working dog, it was felt best to spay her, as well as reducing chances of accidental pregnancy and cancers associated with reproductive organs. She has got a t-shirt on, tied up with two knots to keep it in place to cover the area, she looks great. Might see if I can upload a photo!
  • Thought I shouldn't ignore the totals of my loan, just because it feels insurmountable at the moment! I have OP using PADs £462.83 in total since I got the loan last year. This knocks off 2.8 months from the 5 year loan. Not too shabby! Still can't really process this ever ending
  • You’ve also paid more than 25% off
Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Progress not perfection.:T100%through my 1% mortgage challenge. 100% through my pb challenge.
  • Still can't really process this ever ending
Oh I know this feeling at the moment. I know in my head that I have already paid my loan for 15 months, but another 33 months feels like FOREVER! It's so hard to see progress even thought you know it is there really.

  • Thanks @in_need_of_direction that is a very good point, easy to be short sighted with our own goals I think!

@KeepOnKnitting it is so true! Sometimes I think ignorance is truly bliss, if I didn't pay attention it would go in 5 years as planned and it would be what it is. Knowing about it and wanting it reduced, means I am really really aware of it! We are gonna smash these loans!

    PADs this week:

    CC: £10.40
    Loan: £48.61
    My savings: £133

It was my payday this week so was able to make a few bigger PADs as had monies left which was nice, hoping I can keep this going for next month as well! My normal loan payment should go out today, £162.95, but apparently weekends and bank holidays still get in the way of money movement, madness I think! Take my money!!

    CC is now: £565.45/£2162.22

Loan OP is now: £511.44 (This started from Oct last year)

I think this means I have officially knocked three months off the loan now, if I am mathing correctly! Thought I would have a look at how much I would need to OP to knock a year off, I would need to OP £180.50 a month. I cannot see this being feasible, so I will continue just chucking bits of money here and there!

DH is working to pay off his personal CC and it looks like that will be gone this year, so exciting. We could start 2025, with only my loan! We would be jointly debt free for the first time in years!

I have already spent £80 on this weeks food shop, bought a couple of extra bits. We have also bought the £11 Smol bundle, I was horrified to learn that a lot of fabric conditioners have a derivative of animal fats in them- I don't eat meat- after having a look on the Smol website, DH checked the one we are using, and it does have the animal fat in it. Horrified. We were using Ecover but it has gone so so expensive we just can't justify it, this feels like it could be a more affordable, sustainable, vegan option!

Got a social weekend coming up, this should be fun and I have a couple of days off next week so I am already happy about that! Have also booked to have my hair done next week, paid a lot of money to remove all the brown as I have so many greys. Enjoying blonde life, so have found another hairdresser who is cheaper than the one I initially used, am also debating growing my hair longer. I am pants at hair stuff. I was also considering using a grey/silver hair dye to just rock my natural hair, but scared it will look crap and I will have paid loads of money to get it light, just to ruin it!

Oh and now the sun is shining! How delightful!!

You are doing really well, to have knocked three months off your loan already is great. It's good to see your keeping a balance between living and debt busting it's the best way otherwise it's too easy to give up.

I'd ask the hairdresser for advice about the best way to embrace the grey 🩶

I am not sure you are mathing correctly. If you have overpaid £511.44 and reduced the term by 3 months, I cannot see how you would have to pay that amount extra every 3 months (roughly 180 x 3 = 540) to reduce the term by 12 months. Are you sure you didn't math how much it would cost to reduce the entire term to 12 months?

  • Thanks @Rud0lf ! I get so caught up thinking ahead, that I forget to see how far I have come! Went for bleach this time, but contemplating how to embrace the natural, worried as I am in my 30's how it will look, though I know it can actually de-age some people going natural!

@MFWannabe I am loving the products so far! Makes me happy to know I am able to budget helping the environment! Woohoo!

@KeepOnKnitting honestly not sure how I math'd that! I do manage to math myself in circles sometimes, I will try and unpick what I did
