OK - but to get any refund you'll have to be able to show a distinct payment made for each one. If, as seems to be the case, they've rolled them up into the vehicle price for finance purposes i.e. instead of discounting the vehicle and charging for policies they've left the vehicle at a higher price and discounted the policies (potentially to zero) then there'll be no refund due.

The time to have challenged that would have been when the final paperwork/invoice was produced - when the numbers are seen is normally the point when reality kicks in - which is why there may have been some creative (but probably legitimate) accounting to finalise the deal.

But as before the two critical numbers are the bottom line of the invoice and the financed amount (taking into account any trade-in/deposit)

    Ok.

So emails from dealership stating that all insurances would be cancelled and refund issued upon receipt of funds being reimbursed from insurance companies mean nothing?

It remains to be seen - but all is a bit loose if you don't have any invoice showing the amounts paid for each of them and, as you suggested, a finance company who think they're financing just a car.

Hopefully you end up pleasantly surprised by the dealer

Thank you for the heads up. I have the policies with details of the costs. And the policies also clearly state that I have a right to a full refund within 30 days, and that in the first instance the dealership should be contacted to cancel. I have done this already.

I will email the dealership asking for strict proof that the insurance companies have been contacted in regards to cancellation.

The extra 'free' warranty has not even started yet as the car is still in warranty.

The dealership mentioned in emails that the policies had a 14 day cooling period off period. This is false information.

Can anybody here 'advise' on anything to add to the next email, thus making look as legal as possible, and choosing the right words.

    Many thanks

This is quite common,  though they seem to have been pretty liberal in the extra insurances.
Were they not itemised on the agreement you signed? They should have been.
I had a dealer try to add 3 years gap insurance , scotch guard and alloy cover to a PCP deal I was negotiating, conveniently it totalled exactly £1000 so looked just like his bonus / hoodwink payment.
Whilst they were listed on the finance agreement he didn't verbally tell me he was doing it.
I walked away completely in the end, why he though he could hoodwink me I don't know.
Do you own the car yet? You should be able to cancel them all (except the Gardex if you've already car, as that isn't insurance), mention misselling as selling someone any sort of insurance without checking whether they have existing cover is quite rightly frowned upon, Eg breakdown cover of you already have it.
This whole fiasco is exactly the reason I refuse to use dealers anymore.
The dealership has agreed to pay back £3600, but are still dragging their heels. And indeed you was correct about Gardex. I'm now looking into the facts of how this can be added to the sale of a vehicle that has already been agreed.
